The AM3 socket supports PCIe 2.0 X16 which allows for more bandwidth for gpus whereas the hotbid build is stick with the older PCIe 1.0 X16 which provides half the bandwidth. Hotbid's computer is also going to be smaller, and probably less upgradeable in the future because the LGA 775 socket which his motherboard uses is set to be discontinued this year. My only gripe with the build I made is that I would rather use the Antec 520W power supply, but that would increase the amount you have to spend ;p. His Corsair 550W is superior to the current Cooler Master 460W. If you don't mind spending the extra $30, I would recommend getting the 520W Antec. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371030&cm_re=power_supply_antec-_-17-371-030-_-Product by buying a new motherboard, you also need to buy a new OS since your old OS will not be able to associate itself with your new motherboard. | ||

No that's the graphics card. The 5770 being newer and thus more expensive. People are saying that if you plan to use the same monitor (which most likely has a maximum resolution of 1280x1024), a 5770 may be overkill and unnecessary, so if you want to cut costs, get a 4850. However, if you plan to upgrade your monitor and want to play games coming out in the future at high settings, get a 5770 or what not. | ||
