Actually taking another look at your specs, almost 100% sure you will need a new power supply too, based on the power requirements of the 9800GT. Unless of course, you got an amazingly overpowered power supply for an underpowered computer o.O Possibility of needing more cooling too (usually not required), but idk that really depends on your current cooling setup.

But that shouldn't happen. I'm curious to know if anyone has experience with companies that build good comps for cheap. Cyberpowerpc was pro back in the day, but they were really hit and miss, as sometimes the comp would just not work and you would be fucker in a chain of customer service calls for months.

Except for some really specific kind of builds ( snobby HTPC ) i think that Intel procs under the I5-750 and the i7 aren't competitive for their price.

In this case, I believe the lowest cost option would actually be to take advantage of your motherboard which supports intel Core 2 Duo, buy 4GB of DDR2 RAM, a new power supply, and a 4850. core 2 duo will be around $120, 4GB DDR2 RAM would be around $90, new power supply around 60$, and a 4850 around $100. The low cost build however, probably won't work nearly as well as a new AM3 build which would involve buying a new motherboard.

Also if you don't get a new screen with a resolution > 1280x1024 i doubt that the 5770 will be really useful. A 4850 will probably be more than enough.

also i feel so behind because u guys are talking about the products but i have no idea whats what, if its possible can someone add a list with everything on it so i could just go on newegg.ca and add it to a cart, i would rather build a comp from scratch with all the parts than to salvage parts from my existing comp if the difference comes out to like 100-200$(tower/motherboard etc)
