D9 showed just how far you can go with a low budget and unknown actors. The original storyline and overall idea were fantastic and very enjoyable. Avatar was a polar opposite. Endless budgets, famous actors, and an unoriginal plot still came together in an outstanding movie. To me both movies could not be more opposite in their approach to making an entertaining film, but they both were winners in my eyes. | ||

My thoughts on D9 + Show Spoiler + About D9's main character being a dick, I think that it showed how he was a flawed character which made the movie a little bit more "real". You can't honestly imagine some random guy who is turning into a fucking beetle alien to remain calm and do the most heroic things. He does save the shuttle at the end which shows how he has turned into the reluctant hero or whatever. My thoughts on Avatar + Show Spoiler + I thought it was one of the most visually beautiful movies of all time. The plot was a bit cheesy. I got a little bored when I watched it the second time at all the scenes which weren't pandora-nature/flying/action scenes. The movie had a simple plot but it was well done. I can't vote for one of the two since I loved both of them so much. I think Avatar, D9, Up, Moon, The Hurt Locker, The Hangover, Star Trek, and <I CANT THINK OF ANY OTHERS BUT I KNOW I'M MISSING A BUNCH OF MOVIES> were the best movies this year. | ||
