I hate that I have a very limited knowledge of music, therefore not recognizing most of the names you put but I enjoyed reading your reviews regardless. I'll definitely be on a lookout for the artists you listed from now on. ![]() 5/5~

I don't really expose myself to metal at all but I make an exception for Mastodon so I'm curious about someone who is a little more versed's opinion

Stratovarius - Polaris Sonata Arctica - The Days of Grays Epica - Design Your Universe Fairyland - Score to a New Beginning All are pretty good, I'd have to say that Polaris is my favorite, though

I do enjoy the fact you put BTBAM up there, the only real good core band, and motW will always be amazing.

![]() I think "Axe to fall" was SICK and Endgame is quite the strong album too. And THANK YOU for saying that "Crack the skye" sucks ass, because it does. Holy shit what a lame album tbh. I guess August burns red's new album was alright, but not as good as previous efforts imo. I love their sound though; there's something about faith and heavy music which makes it very intense. Hmm, otherwise I guess your list is good. Not that I know 90% of the bands mentioned but w/e :D Christian hardcore/metal-core is almost like a genre of if it's own. No Innocent Victim from San Diego comes to mind, I interviewed those guys in Sweden a long ass time ago.

It's actually a pretty good album, something I wasn't sure I expected after the Tolkki/Stratovarius- soap opera. I was hugely disappointed with Sonata Arctica's new album. What kind of album title is that btw? They sometimes have awkwardly named songs, and the singer sings with even more finnish accent than Kotipelto :D Anyways, I used to like SA, but the last 2 albums have sucked for me.

You did? Haha, that's cool man. I interviewed them after a gig in Sweden when they opened up for Biohazard I think it was. This was like 10 years ago :D They were very friendly and great guys. Have they put out anything new in recent years? I remember the song "C.E.B" creating a kick ass moshpit.

Cool, thanks. I'll check it out!

I can totally see a thread with only pictures of boesthius as he manages to look like a different person in every pic :D Edit: With corpse paint, you'd look like any member of a norwegian black metal band. Preferrably Immortal

Big brofist for Magrudergrind. They're somewhat local for me and they always seem to be playing Maryland Deathfest.

This is what I wrote for my best albums of the year. Enjoy a top 7 of my design. 1. Digital Ghosts - Shadow Gallery. Best Prog-Metal album since Images and Words. 2. Ki/Addicted - Devin Townsend Project. Totally different albums, one is eerie and mellow while the other is heavy and Euro-Dancy. Love them both. 3. Sing-Along Songs For The Damned and Delirious - Diablo Swing Orchestra. Experimental band find their boppy swing metal style and fill it with worldwide influences. Delicious. 4. The Whirlwind - Transatlantic. Prog Rock supergroup with some awesome, awesome stuff in their 77 minute song. 5. Incredibad - The Lonely Island. Funny and catchy. 6. Tokyo Jukebox - Marty Friedman. Friedman covers a bunch of songs and improves everyone of them. 7. Back to the Noose - Swashbuckle Thrash Metal based on pirates. It's good fun. Hope at least one of those catches your eye and you listen to them.

edit: For Today's album is fucking great too. I'm just a little worn out on them because they're around all the damn time, but that album is their best by far for me.
