i just saw the new star trek on DVD and it wasnt bad but wtf at some of the ridiculous plot holes.
first, why did nero drop old spock on that planet. if some dude killed my planet and i wanted to destroy his planet as revenge and make him watch, i would sure as fuck want to be there when he watches it.
i mean, assuming that old weak spock survives the cold, monsters, and whatever on that hoth planet, theres no guarantee he'd be looking at the fucking sky at the exact 5 minutes vulcan was destroyed. what if there was a snowstorm that blocked his view? what if he was making a fire or sleeping? did nero text him or something? "vulcan about 2 b destroyed, look up."
also, wth at needing to DRILL A HOLE when you create a black hole that destroys a planet. pretty sure u can just create a black hole next to a fucking planet and that'd be fine. this isn't armageddon, u dont need bruce willis to drill to a certain depth. they started a black hole fine in the middle of nowhere at the end of the movie so why couldn't they just do that to earth.
dont they have some dude thats like yo jj abrams this shit dont make sense??
oh yeah, spoiler alert sorry.

If you simply accept that a movie list star trek is not suppose to have a great plot, it makes the movie watching experience much more enjoyable.
|
everything else about the plot was great?
its like the writers switched their brains off for those two things

Spoiler alert at the last line f the thread is VERRRY smart.

Don't forget about the Romulans getting stormtrooper syndrome and being unable to shoot either of them when they teleport in, despite there being so many Romulans around.

I haven't seen startrek nor do I plan on it, but what exactly were you expecting? If you want to see a great movie, go watch the godfather. If simply want to be entertained, watch startrek.
|
I hated that movie. Was ranting so hard when I saw it at the movies, had a bunch of people flip on me. It deserved it though.
|
Star Trek has so many gaping plotholes that it is indeed quit humorous. Supposedly it's all explained by 'the timeline trying to repair itself' after the time traveling Romulans fucked shit up.

they needed to drill to the planets core so that they would be able to use the MASS of the planet to sustain the black hole, if a black hole is created, but doesnt have enough mass to sustain itself (which is, massive), it will dissipate.
and clearly nero told spock about the destruction of his world.

Which goes to show how low peoples' expectations for sci-fi films has gotten =_=;;

however OP is very humorous 5/5

How about the fact that all aliens are humanoids who apparently speak english. Whatever, it was a great and entertaining movie to watch. Bought it on Blu-ray and watched it again. Boom, still good.
|
Dude, it's a movie. Enjoy it and suspend your disbelief.

They made the red stuff as vague as possible in order to keep you from asking these kinds of questions. They call it "red matter " ffs.
I think you just need to relax and enjoy the movie/life in general. I wish there were some other way I could phrase this advice.

even leaving all the red crap out, what about my point about old spock? why wouldnt nero want to see old spock get pissed that he couldnt do shit about his planet? especially when this old dude would prolly instantly dies if sent to a planet like that and theres no guarantee he even watches the sky.
that has nothing to do with sci fi or weird explanations. its just obvious and u shouldnt have to suspend disbelief and enjoy a movie by turning off basic common sense

You watch star trek for the big explosions. Well thats what I watch star trek for.
|
how about the fact that the explosion could be seen from a planet that was definitely multiple light years away? I mean the enterprise was definitely going at warp speed for quite some time when kirk was ejected
suspend belief, enjoy, have a good time, just relax
