Thats not relevant to my point. My point was that, regardless of how fucked up your circumstances are [and this was during a recession, at that] social mobility is very high in the west. Especially in America and Canada. You can make it with sacrifice. And beyond that, being relatively poor does not make a bad life, people are far too materialistic. My parents were still drunks when my sister was growing up and they lived in a roach infested apartment, no money, hand me down clothes. Does my sister regret her childhood? No. She was happy. She still IS happy. People associate being poor instantly with a shitty life, or adoption or the product of rape, all these children are instantly fucked. No they are not. And its just such a load of bullshit when people just presume failure and unhappiness and suggest "humane" actions [really, things just to alleviate responsibility so they can maintain their adolescence] to relieve them of a "horrible existence". Nobody should have that right but, ultimately, I'd wish that nobody was so arrogant and stupid as to presume what is a quality life before its even lived.

Anyways, doesn't matter if my parents and my life was an exception to the rule. Even if his kid grows up in a poor family, or in circumstances that arent ideal, there is a chance for happiness and a good future. If the Dad gets his head out of his fucking ass, mans up and acts responsibly.

Let's imply that all Americans are stupid just because one person made a mistake.

I thought the pill made you slough off the lining of your uterus, but a quick google search and it's all fixed.

If you read wikipedia (yes, don't bother telling me it's not academia enough; it serves the purpose)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teenage_pregnancy

Statistically speaking, teenage pregnancy is bad for the father, the mother and the child. No one is saying the children are "instantly fucked", but their lives will be much harder than others. Yes, things *might* work out, but more likely, they won't. The OP has every reason to be concerned.

Yes, even if the kid grows up in non-ideal circumstances, there is still a chance for happiness; but if the kid grows up in ideal circumstances, he will have a much higher chance for happiness. I don't understand your point.

I guess you should try answering these questions...

Are (both of) you still in school?
Are you financially independent?
Can you afford to have a child?
Are your parents willing to lend support if necessary?
Are you (you alone) ready to be a father?

Guess I'll have to keep trying. That or I'll have to grease the bathtub and stairs in a few months.

It seems to me that you aren't 100% on the child, then you should really try to persuade her into giving it up. If she doesn't agree... then good luck (with life and the greasing of stairs).

If you really love her though, go for it. As long as the love lasts, you'll have the motivation to accomplish anything.

If you've got any kind of doubts though, talk to her properly - don't leave anything unsaid that'll pain you later down the line.

The stats there are interesting, the USA which have a very high age of consent and very low tolerance for nakedness also tops the chart of teen pregnancies by a very large margin. Also I am happy to see that 70% of the teen pregnancies are aborted in my country That is a sign that we don't pressure them into keeping it like you do in more conservative countries.
