These days, you don't need to look at the megapixel number. 8 megapixels is enough to take great pictures. Instead, you should look at how much optical zoom the camera offers and whether it offers image stabilization. Don't listen to the other people telling you to buy a 10 dollar camera. 0.3 megapixel cameras takes shitty pictures. Canon digital cameras offers better picture quality than Coolpix digital cameras but costs 2 times more. DSLR takes better pictures than point and shoots but it's more complicated to use and it's rather big. | ||

What I need for sure is to be able do at least 640x480 30fps videos, though most seem capable. Which one of the Digital IXUS is the best within ~300$ ? | ||

edit: It seems like Digital IXUS 95 IS can only do MJPEG. Digital IXUS 100, 110, 120 IS could do H264 compression and capture at a 1280*720 resolution. Digital IXUS 120 looks good. It has 4x zoom, and it's priced at $300 USD. It's also smaller than 100 or 110. | ||
