I check them online. So yeah, you don't have to tell them if you don't want to...

But they pay for some of my tuition <.<

At my college, your grades are posted online the week after finals. You can also request an official transcript to be mailed to you if you want a physical copy.

You dont get report cards. Atleast the schools my friends go to or that i go to get report cards. Just mostly an unofficial transcript which you can access online. But you should have an idea on what grade you get by the end of the semester. good luck ~

They're online. In order fro your parents to see them, you either have to give them your password or sign this form giving them permission to check.

Depends on your college, or your professor. Usually grades are handed back to you in class, and you are expected to keep track on your own. There are online resources for your grades but they are not always up to date. There are no report cards, just grades on your transcript (in my experience).

My parents ask me about my day-to-day grades but never any final grades until semester is done. You can always produce physical proof at the end of the semester but usually not until then in many classes.
Peace~

See them online. My parents don't ask, I usually let them know though.

Ya btw good chance that your gpa will drop @ least 10-15%, some of my friends gpa have even dropped about 20-25% from high school. I was about an 86% average give or take 2%. Last year I was 73 and this year I'm thinking 68 seems like the accurate number.

I used to get them in the mail once every 11 weeks.

Recently, three months ago, our school transferred them to online only.

If you need a formal print out to give to your parents I recommend seeing your registrar.

Check online. Technically there's no physical proof, but if you're still hiding grades from your parents in college you're doing it wrong. My parents don't ask about my grades since I pay for it myself, a little more motivation that way.

You dont get report cards. After exams are done they will be posted online. I usually told my parents because they were good grades, but they never asked to see them.

Meh, I don't tell my parents everything. I give them the grades, but I don't tell them about my drops/withdrawals because it just leads to endless arguments with my mom because she didn't go to college so she doesn't understand why I would drop communications with a professor that doesn't speak english (or even decent fucking Konglish - yeah, she was Korean).

Mine are online, btw. My school uses a system called "Matrix" where registration, tuition and grades are handled.

asian parents will want to know their children's grades. some might force you to show your registrar or whatever report card you have online to them

Online only, but as mentioned above, if they do pay your tuition its poor form not to let them know how its going. If you're taking out loans... I would think you already care enough to do decently.

if they pay for your college, they can access it with their own password. my university has that so my parents can pay the bills online and check my grades.

most stuff are online. profs rarely hand out stuff.. especially grades

Online. For instance, University of Toronto has a website called ROSI (www.rosi.utoronto.ca) which stores all of your information as a student - including the courses you are taken / have taken in the past, the grades you got, how much money you paid to the school and how much you are still oweing, your tax return forms, requesting graduation, etc... basically about everything you need to do is through the website.

If you want a physical copy of your grades, there are two ways to obtain that. The easy way is to load it up from the website, and click "print". It will produce a so-called unofficial transcript which will have all of your grades, but it could be easily photoshopped in case you are really bored. The other way is to request it printed from the university - they will produce a copy in a sealed envelope (thus the copy is official, and you can send it to admission offices when you apply for graduate school, for example), but unfortunately my university charges 10 dollars for each copy. Some universities produce official transcripts for free.

Online.

Parents used to ask in 1st year, then stopped. Your relationship between your parents really change after you move out and become financially independent.

ehh not true in my experience
the thing is that it's harder to keep the same average in uni but not because the material but because of everything else
for instance i, like u, was roughly high 80s in hs (88 i think)
my avg in uni was mid 80s until i realized that it doesn't really make any sense for me to work to keep it at that level unless i were to push it past 87, which is the dean's list breakpoint here (and is tbh a lot of sacrifices for me, and the only thing you get at the end is 2 extra words : "with distinction")
just look at the milestones, pass - dean's list - cum laude or whatever
since the corresponding grades go something like 65 - 87 - 95+, there's really no difference between getting a 65 and an 85 for me since i'm not going to grad school, and both get me the same thing at the end. except 65 requires no work while 85 requires quite a bit.

In Canada, we have the main school website, which displays all grades achieved, as well as special student sites that teachers upload your progress to. I don't even think you can get your grades mailed here in Canada, maybe you could request it, but I don't see why would would do that. Although you can always view your transcript or have it printed and that'll have your grades.

My parents leave school business to me. My parents and I are past the point where they have to babysit me, I am twenty years old and at this point we both realize (especially me) that if I slack off or don't take school seriously, I am just fucking myself. I have self-motivation, I don't achieve my grades to please my parents, I do it because I have to stay in my course and move on to graduate school. My parents know that's what I want and that I work for it and am willing to do what I need to do. I don't think my parents have really ever been on my case about school from Gr. 12 onwards. There is a point where it's your responsibility and not theirs. When you're an immature kid some parents have to force their kid to do homework and to study because they don't realize the importance, but if your parents are still doing that in College, I think they need to realize it's out of their hands.

my college just mails me my report card a week or two after the exams.so my parents can see it.
colleges here are very strict about this and want the parents to be involved as much as possible and i for one don't like it.many students here get a huge lecture from their folks for getting an A and not an A+.

yeah at my school we just check our grades online as well. it wouldn't really make a difference if we got our report cards mailed home though. my parents haven't checked my grades since 8th grade.

Online and written record at the end of the semester. My parents don't really ask me about the grades and I don't really tell them. They just ask me if I passed and whether I'll be graduating soon, that's it

Written evaluations are brutal ... even worse than grades, IMO. If you can slack and pull of a decent grade then that's great, but in a written evaluation they'll point it out.

Anyway, yeah. I check my grades online. I go to school in Pennsylvania and apparently there's like a law that prevents parents from calling the school and asking about their children's grades ... >_>

But bottom line, if my parents ask, I tell them.

most liberal arts colleges give out letter grades. it's the rare ones like evergreen state college in washington, or (i believe) reed college in portland that give out evals.

on an unrelated tangent, they are both known to be pothead schools lol.

QFT

not necessarily true. a lot of businesses and firms require a minimum gpa to be interviewed for a job post-grad, or even an internship while you're still an undergrad.

Ahh... the ole 3.9 semester; that one class gets away.

Out of two years, I've had two 3.9's:

Both I was hospitalized for gall bladder problems.

It's all about shooting for grad school.

Sometimes they send slips in the mail to notify you if you're failing mid-semester. Keep an eye out for those if you're parents tend to sift through your shit. Either that or just don't fail.

I just take a test/workgroup and then when it's graded the results get posted on blackboard+mailed to me.

I occasionally tell my parents how I'm doing and stuff, but that was mostly my first year. Now I see them once every two weeks and tell some stuff but I prefer torturing them by telling all the dumb crap I did at the frat.
