I'll be spending a few months in Vietnam around July-September next year. My plan was to chill on the beach, live really cheaply and go to a café with wifi for my laptop to work a few hours a day. I'm really just there for the beach, the sun and the low prices. If anyone have some tips about how I can find cheap housing, please let me know. Also, cheap is the name of the game so what areas are the cheapest? EDIT: I apologize if I'm hijacking the thread but it is called Travel to Vietnam. | ||

Lodging: you want to rent a room within someone's house. Generally you can get this in downtown of Saigon (or Ho Chi Minh City) for like, hmm, around $100 (that's a cheaper rate than most). But if you don't need to stay in downtown, you can probably get a room for like $50 or less per month. But since you prefer the beach, you probably want to stay some where in Central VN (beautiful beaches, not too heavily populated, therefore much cleaner beach, and cheaper living expenses) such as Qui Nhon, Phan Rang, Nha Trang (actually I don't know about Nha Trang, it's a very popular tourist attraction, but still cheap compared to Saigon). Wifi Cafe's are plentiful no matter where you go, so you don't even have to worry about that. Cheap food: you have to rely on the locals for this one. If you're going to stay in downtown Saigon I can help you out, otherwise I don't know :D | ||

Traveling to saigon and will spend some days there and then travel to halong and get a cruise in halong bay. What do you guys recommend next? My flight home is booked in ho chi min city so i will have to travel from the north to the south of the country! Sorry for the bump hope this justifies! | ||

not that youll need any, its way too hot anyways. dont sleep without any mosquito-nets, theyll eat you alive, my sister slept with her leg touching the nets and woke up with about 60 bites on it. | ||

There's a place there considered to be the most romantic place in Vietnam there, forgot what it was called. and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nha_Trang nice clean beaches, took a boat to some of the smaller islands and was a lot of fun. | ||

Also do not leave out anything with sugar, sodas, candy, w/e. Fire ants will swarm it. Fire ants suck. | ||
