No, you transfer the common cold through the air, it is airborne. Std's cannot survive when exposed to air and must remain in a transfer fluid to infect another person. These are widely known facts, not my opinion. | ||

So how is that different from saliva exchange by kissing, we the saliva is still exposed to air. | ||

If the virus (or bacteria or w/e as the case may be) is exposed to air, it dies if it is an std, whereas airborne illnesses such as the common cold can survive when completely dry. As long as the std remains in saliva during transfer from person to person, it can infect the other person.
