Uhh I definitely disagree with YPang... If anything, the girl should be hitting you to calm down. When my gf was really mad we would wrestle a bit, but I'm like 6 foot and 170 pounds, and she was like a 90 pound asian girl. It was a great way for her to take her anger out, plus afterwards there was a chance that the wrestling ended up in the bedroom...

The amount of self-righteousness on the internet's never going to cease amazing me, seriously you guys, you've never done anything in your lives you regretted later? Of course that doesn't excuse his behaviour, but lots of you need to get off your high horse and realize that living is sometimes more difficult than it sounds from behind your computers.

You're saying the comments would look even remotely similar if it was his male friend he slapped?
I'm not implying that it's justified hitting somebody - just that it is excusable because we are after all animals doing human-like things in human clothes. Anyone who is not emotionally detached from other people CAN snap and lose self-control which is why people in this thread are harsh against the OP. They realize they could do the same thing but just don't want to admit it.

That does not need to happen yet. If any kind of outburst like this ever happens again, then yes, councilors should be involved.
I think the big thing is that the OP realized what he is capable of doing. It is up to him to hold himself back. The truth is, everyone is capable of doing that kind of thing, whether you think you are or not. The real question is whether you are capable of holding back. I'm glad that I came to this realization without having to take part of an incidence like this one.
However, spoiling her is not going to make up for it. Not even close. You two are going to remember this incident for the rest of your lives. It will hang over you all the time, consciously or subconsciously. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing has yet to be determined.

I'm not surprised she forgives you, in fact women come back after being hit averagely 9 times.
Most of the time they will search the guilt on her side, which in especially in this example is not the case (in fact nothing qualifies for hitting your gf, I'm glad you agree). Also women seem to be embarrassed and deny the fact that they are victim of domestic violence, so really I'm not surprised.
You really have to make sure, that this will never ever happen again. However I wouldn't be surprised either, when she might be a little distant to you in the future, for understandable reason. Good luck and work it out!
