Apart from a hemorrhoid, could also be dehydration. Fiber helps your colon remain relaxed, whereas protein stiffens it. Water makes your shit soft.

Drink more fluids. Go see a doctor.

Does it just itch/hurt for a while afterwards? You probably have hemorrhoids--definitely not fun. You can buy over the counter topical creams for them, but what I've found works the best (I have them sometimes) is instead of wiping with toilet paper is to try to just wash the area off with water if you can. Sitting on the sink or sitting in the bath if you're at home usually works. This makes a huge difference, as wiping with toilet paper a) irritates the area and b) usually doesn't clean it that well, which leads to more irritation.

It could be anal fissure which is a tear in the rectum wall or hemorrhoids, both can occur from constipation, diarrhea, or sedentary llifestyle. The small stool is likely cause you are straining it out which I believe could be a fissure.
You could see a gp and they can give you meds or referral for a thorough checkup/colonoscopy.

I eat sunflower seeds all the time when watching movies or shows on hulu. I do the same thing and sometimes just eat the whole thing, which can end up in some painful shits on the occasion. I don't know if this could be the cause of your pain or not, just suggesting an idea.
