I bought a Monster TUrbine earphones 4 months ago, and because the jack is straight instead of a right angle, the wires were disconnected and the music in my right ear piece was gone.
I called them and will get a replacement under their warrantly plan, but it's a hassle and I will have to pay for shipping. Therefore I'm wondering if there is any product I can buy to protect the jack so I won't have to replace my second one.
The picture of the jack is here.

Edit:
What kind of earphone buds do you guys recommend?

Well, why is the cord tense in the first place? :p

Straight jacks are made on purpose so the cable doesn't bend in gadgets such as cellphones or newest little mp3 players with rectangular shape.

For example, a L shaped jack on an IPod nano in your pocker would bend up (since the ipod will be vertical inside of your pocket).

There's extensions for earphones if the cord is a little short, that way you have extra cable inside your pocket and the cord won't be tensioned.

just wrap a bunch of duct tape around it until it is rigid. I have not tried it but it seems like it would work.

Well it's kind of my fault I guess since whenever I'm not listening ot the ipod, I lace it around my ipod which may also strain it....

The solution here is to get some quality headphones. Something Sennheiser, like the pc33 or something.

Yeah... Don't do that. You'll destroy the wire no matter what the quality of earphone cable. I know it seemed smart and sassy when you first did it, but it's really much better to just fold the cable a few times and stuff it in your pocket. If you don't treat them delicately you will end up with earphones where only one side works, or certain frequencies stop working, and all sorts of stupid problems.

I use an L shaped cord and I still don't have problems when I keep these things in mind. My earphones only break when some clumsy idiot at the bus stop catches them on his backpack or jacket and pulls them out of my ears bursting them into a million pieces [/traumatic memories]

Also, if you 'get into' audio, my only suggestion is don't trust anybody, because pretty much everyone (even, and especially people in the business) are only pretending to know what they're talking about.

I use Skullcandy Ink'd headphones if I'm using bud earphones.

They're incredibly good at blocking out sound, and they come with 3 different size gels depending on how big your ear canal is. Pretty cheap too, they're normally around $20, but I've found sales where I can get them as cheap as $10.

Yeah that's definitely dangerous. What I do is loop my headphones (over-under method) and then put it in a safe pocket, or even better a carrying case. Just take good care of your headphones, especially if they're more expensive (I would consider Turbines to be more expensive).
Soli Deo gloria.
