Maybe this is old but I am stoked, though the site only has 24 episodes, episodes 24, & 25 are missing. And they appear to be uncensored at least the first episode is.

Hopefully the missing episodes are online somewhere and nothing happens to the site.

I always caught this show only once in a while in the middle of it so I don't really know whats going on with the plot but it looked nice, ty for the site.
|
It's a really good series, incredible animation and fight scenes. But I think that the loosely connected episodes held together by some weak plot glue+ Show Spoiler +(the underdeveloped premise of looking for Foo's parents) detracted from the show overall.
|
I really wanted to like this, but for some reason could never really enojy it. Jopz made a good point about the plot being pretty disjointed. I also really didnt care for the characters much either, but the fight scenes were decent enough.
|
The way the plot was laid out was really, really similar to Cowboy Bebop. They're both by the same people, so it's not too surprising. If you liked one of them, then you should presumably like the other one as well.

That's the director's style. Look at Cowboy Bebop. That one is entirely episodic.
He plays with characters, not plot, in order to create interest.
I don't think Samurai Champloo holds a candle to Bebop, but it is definitely a good series.
|
I liked this anime. Sure it wasn't a super complex plot, but what do you want... I don't think heavy plot was what this anime was going for.
|
Yeah. Samurai Champloo is a really good anime. Definitely worth watching if, as Koreasilver said, you like Cowboy Bebop.
|
I liked it better than Cowboy Bebop, they're both great shows though. I think I just preferred the characters, Spike never seemed that interesting to me.

Yeah, that's the director's style. But in Cowboy Bebop, he managed to explore the histories of his characters, and you found yourself looking forward to the episodes shedding light on Spike's past. Champloo lacked even that to give better cohesion to the series. And of course, the climax of Bebop blows Champloo out of the water.
Character interaction and development is alright, but without plot development, the whole show just seems so much weaker than it would have been otherwise. + Show Spoiler +The baseball episode was so randomly awesome though.
|
I actually thought Champloo had a stronger overarching plot than Bebop. Bebop was so much more episodic, whereas in Champloo, there was a clear goal from the start.
I dunno.
|
Yeah I agree. Jin, and Mugen had their past associations explored. Mugen was a convict of piracy, Jen what killed his master or something?
|
who cares about plot anyway. most good anime (with the exception of NGE) is episodic. all the shit tier anime is plot-based, like naruto etc

my all time top 3 with code geass and monster amazing series, has its own atmosphere and humor. Guy busts out a mic and starts beatboxing while its a fucking Japan in the Edo period? ROFL 2 guys shanking everyone around while philosophizing? I love cowboy bebop and it will always have a piece of my heart but please, this is way edgier. I watched it 3 or 4 times and never got tired. The episodes could be SO different too. Like the one about baseball had me cry laughing and the one im going to link was just insanely deep. Let me remind you of THIS. And find me a better death scene, please do

This would be the case, except one is vastly, vastly superior to the other in nearly every way to the point that any remaining similarities are naught but painful reminders of what it could have been. Guess which is which.

was listening to the soundtrack for months anime was ok : )

As a person who normally doesn't watch/dislikes anime, samurai champloo was the only "good" series that I ended up finishing.
I guess cowboy bebop was alright from what I saw on those latenight re-runs on adult swim...
|
Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop are two of my all time favorite animes. I love these two.
|
i forget which episode but the guy lookign for the "samurai with glasses" had his his boy who beatboxed for him. that was a sick beat
and sara/shoryu were pretty badass
|
my friend is obsessed with anime and tried to bring me into this but i just couldn't watch more than a few episodes. also, wtf is up with his dirt stache? is it really that necessary? the only anime that i've actually enjoyed is cowboy bebop.

FredSanford, just no it feeds no aesthetic interest whatsoever mugen scene is on another level.. he sees the end. The dawn, the road with a skull in the middle of it, himself standing at the end of the road, sees the bird getting close, stunning landscapes and colors, he sees eerie himself with unrecognizable face, moments of true happiness from the past flash before his eyes, he surfaces on a remote island lying among figures of death, with birds flying high above, not wanting to die just yet
and what did you link? Some stupid lolis getting killed? How deep.

I think you are paying tribute here. It was a great anime for that time, no doubt about it. I watched it again recently, just because i started to forget the details. But it wasnt breathtaking until later in the series. It had a unique atmosphere to it and a good character development like some mentioned. I felt that the story was even less connected then Samurai Champloo, takes awhile before you get into it. Here we have space cowboys hunting down criminals trying to make a living while reminiscing of their past and finding new companions with their unique abilities( RPG style). One hacks computers, one gambles and sneaks around, the super dog etc. And they all a bunch of nice people after all. Samurai champloo was more appealing from the start. Didnt take me 5 episodes to get interested, i couldnt stop watching after the first. It has its own atmosphere too. Its insanely cool and often funny, at the same time character development is just as good, never felt empty while watching it. I liked the ways characters interacted and their views on life. They hate each other at first, then they become closest friends. Mugen always pretends to act careless, but he is really vulnerable inside, gets involved with women whenever he can too. Jin always cold and rational, but in reality hes kind and caring. And you get way more action then Bebop can offer. The very ending probably goes to Bebop( if you like the Blues), but the series overall? Champloo for me.

The guy was implying that Champloo was painfully bad or something, which is seriously not the case. I think Cowboy Bebop was better than Champloo due to it's ending, but they were both very good series. Bebop was definitely the harder one to get into due to it's style, yeah.

Maybe it's just me but I think the series finale of Samurai Champloo was much more violent than Cowboy Bebop.

I barely liked bebop and like someone else said, I only caught little snippets of the show and nothing happened and I couldn't follow anything so it seemed really dumb and just a gimmick to play new avanteguard style musics (semi-undeground hip hop i think). Can anyone posts the best scenes, fight scenes or whatever so I (and others reading) can decide if I(we) wanna watch the series?

I think you're thinking of the wrong show.

koreasilver no im not wtf? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samurai_Champloo series' most frequent anachronism is its use of elements of hip hop culture, particularly rap and the music it has influenced, break dancing, turntablism, hip hop slang, and graffiti. The show also contains anachronistic elements from the punk subculture and modernism, but less prominently. It is one of the first anime TV shows based on hip-hop (Afro Samurai is the other, having been released in 2007).

What I meant was that I barely liked bebop. So like someone else said about Samurai...
You should have been able to figure out what I meant if you've seen it.
