My friend from school is running a school newspaper because he wants to do something in the field of journalism in the future. Anyway, I told him I would make a few grayscale manga pages for each issue and right now I'm designing some characters. What do you guys think of this character draft I quickly drew up? A few ideas for character design will be much appreciated.

The eyes don't really go well with the head shape, other than that it seems ok.

Needs to be more crisp i think. Fast lines and less coloring would make this so much better i think. Other then that it looks good for a quick draw i think.

disclaimer, i don't draw myself so good but when i compare this with official manga then i think that would be the easiest thing to make it look much better

her deltoid muscles are too small lol? like her arms are kinda way thin too. and her eyes are huge evne for anime/manga standards.

no Photoshop and Manga Studios. The gray parts are actually screentones, but they didn't render properly when I saved it because I forgot to choose a higher resolution.

Hmm.... the eyes, like everyone else said.

Other than that, there's nothing in particular, but the proportions just seem messed up. I'd say that you should work on drawing the structure. Maybe you could practice a bit by doing some life-drawing.

Eyes look great, don't shrink 'em. It looks distinctive. Hair looks great. Honestly I think it will work as is.

the lines are shaky. That is by far the biggest problem.

The eyes are too large but it's not that important.

edit: the eyes aren't really too large. They feel like they are to some, but I agree they are distinctive.

you dont even have any basics and you are drawing people? your body structure is messed up and i was surprised you ddint use your mouse for this. look at some manga with clean drawing and good proportions and you will see what you need to try to attain.

you really should practice body structure and basic body parts first.

btw the eyes are... too large.

Twig arms, Xbox huge eyes. General body disproportions.

There's no depth in the left pigtail. It should be drawn further back. (It's symmetric with the other one currently, when her head is slightly turned to the right, and therefore her right pigtail should be deeper.)

Other than those things, the general design is fine. Like the person above me suggested, learn some basic proportions.
