Hey TL.net! I recently got into poker but I want to just play online (against real people) for free. I have been playing on facebook.. and I think 90% of those are computers.
I want to see how I do against real people, but I'm just a college student with no money lol.
So where can I play poker for free against real people online?
Thanks!

Pokerstars, but the free money players are horrid and you won't learn and get better at poker by much.

Oh I see. Thanks.
Well.. I guess I can start with those 10cents blinds and stuff huh?
By the way, I only need to be 18+ to be able to play right? XD

start at 0.01/0.02 if you're going to play real money, unless you have $100-$200 bucks to blow if things don't go your way at 0.05/0.01 limits
stars and full tilt are good for newbies, i'd say stars because support and software are better

Not my opinions, just what I perceive to be the consensus (but I'm a noob):

If you just want to play as a hobby or don't mind switching sites later, both PokerStars and Full Tilt are fine. But if you want to make one deposit and then build up your roll and move up in limits, I think the only choice is Full Tilt.

The bottom line is that until the higher levels, FT's rakeback is far superior to Stars' substitute. This goes doubly if you plan on playing heads-up.

If you want to play MTT's instead of cash games, then Stars is way ahead. I don't know if it matters for SNG's.

Remember that you need to get rakeback before you make your first deposit at Full Tilt.

Poker with play money is like the Starcraft campaign; once you figure out how the game works, you can't really get anything out of it. When you take the psychological weight of monetary value out of poker (even penny games are a world apart from play money) you aren't getting an accurate representation of the game at all. It's pointless if you want to improve, gauge your skill, or (obviously) make money. And I don't find seeing how many all-ins I can survive at 70% very much fun, either.

At stars there are FPP (frequent player points) you can often use these to buy into free tournaments with cash prizes at the end.
..and then I would, ya know, check em'. (Aka SpoR)

I play fulltilt and there are often Freeroll tournaments that you can play for free and potentially win very small amounts of money. However I have not started playing any poker for actual money online so I don't play much. But the interface and such seems to work fine.

Playing play money on pokerstars is probably the best. "High Stakes" play money actually plays better than like 1c/2c of real money. You can also sell 10 million play money for like $8.

Can you elaborate on the 10million play money = $8?
Who do you sell it to? Is there an in-game feature for this? Like the trade tournament money style? This can really help me out X_X

You can sell at $6 per million to www.bigbadbullets.com. I think there was a site that offered $8 though I'm just too lazy to find it.
