About two years ago I received a pair of these headphones as a gift. I have never owned better headphones. They are, as they advertise, comfortable. The noise-canceling leaves something to be desired; however, I've tested many of these headphones and not a one has better noise canceling than these do. The sound quality is amazing and consistent. The two setting of "High" and "Low" make me never have to worry about cranking the volume of some device that will cause me to jump the next time I turn it on. Seriously, these headphones are amazing.
That being said not once have they acted up until a week ago when the left earpiece suddenly stopped working. Naturally I was quite sad. I had to go back to my old apple earphones for my ipod and computer and well, everything.
I remembered something about a warranty so I decided to call them up. Oh, did I mention that they have toll-free quick service that you hardly have to interact with a machine to get? Also, there's the fact their number is right in the headset case unobtrusively. I was on the phone for about five minutes and next thing I know they are sending me a new set of headphones free of charge, of course I had to send my own back in. Not only that, but since the headphones acted up they are reseting my warranty, so should anything happen to them again I can get another pair.
I've never had such a pain-free encounter with any company, nor such consistently good service. (Until it failed ;p) My point is that if you ever have the need for a bose device absolutely go with their product. I am very impressed with how they work. I wish other companies were more like them. Thank you Bose!
EDIT: I thought I'd add in that these headphones do gobble up AAA batteries like nothing else. I forgot that part. :[

you didn't have to send in your current headphones?

Yes bose is fantastic for quality and customer service.

Will look into these. Music is best experienced with headphones, for sure.

I did.
@v I dunno... I don't consider myself an audiophile though. Still, I think you'd be hard pressed to find better quality headphones. I've never encountered them.

i have a bose!
nonetheless, most audiophiles look down upon bose, no?
|
I wouldn't say 'look down upon.' Bose makes quality gear. It's just that most of the time it is overpriced and you can find other equivalent gear for less.

Not if you use rechargeables, then you just need to charge 'em a lot =P

These are nice. :D
I'll stick with my AKG K518's though. Although they don't cancel sound they have great sound quality that makes up for it completely.

These headphones are the reason I never leave my computer

Bose is known to be expensive yet not quite up to par with some audiophile headphones with the same price because their headphones tend to put overemphasis on the bass but not others (thus sometimes called "fart cannons" :X). But for the most part, they're very comfortable and in most cases, very satisfactory purchase.

This is exactly why you enjoy it as it is. The price would say otherwise.

hey so im a headphone newbie.
bose is great quality from what i gather, but how are they compared to headphones from other brands? like the Beats by Dr. Dre from Monster Cable? Other examples? And how come DJs never use bose headphones? i always see them using like pioneer or audio technica headphones.
just curious - i'd like to buy a good pair thanks!

Bose are mass market stuff. Lowest common denominator of the high end. There are many superior brands and models, but you'd be best getting on a few audiophile discussion boards and reading up.

This op explains why their shit is so overpriced. The great customer service and easy warranty for free new shit. but in general I'll stick to this acronym Buy Other Sound Equipment
sennheiser is awesome.

You're dead to me leper!
BOSE.... pfft!
I'd take my Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic or Shure headphones over BOSE any day.

Louder and Kingfisher basically killed the thread, but Wangsta will probably wander in at some point :p

There are plenty of better alternatives out there, they just aren't as mass marketed as Bose is.
Honestly, if you ask me, whatever sound makes you happy goes. But if possible, it is best to find stores dedicated for audio equipment (or dedicated enough, New Yorkers, J&R!) and test it out yourself. I just wouldn't quite recommend Bose personally.
One thing though, your SQ is only determined in part by headphones, a pair of high end headphones is wasted on integrated sound and lossy music. While headphones represent the quickest way to increasing the said quality, it is just as important to pay attention to the source.

I'm liking my scennheisers right now. They give pretty good sound quality and mic. I'm looking at the megalodon though. The only thing putting me off from those is the mic, apparently some of them are faulty.
Ya i got those, but damn are they expensive there, I got mine for 100$ at future shop of all places and my friend got his for 70$ on NCIX from price matching.
