Chrome=the fastest browser out of the three im going to mention
Opera=right in between, it comes with built in features so it doesn't slow it down as it does to firefox.
Imo, go with chrome like others have mentioned, it's insanely fast.

I like firefox the most due to its addons (especially adblock plus) but Chrome is the fastest, so that would probably be what you are looking for.

If you want the fastest browser, the one that will work best and run fastest with numerous tabs open and such. Go with Chrome. It may eat up a little more memory but that's part of it being faster than the others.

I never tried Opera before. I will try it sometime in the future but go with Google Chrome. It might not be the fastest, but it is still fast.

I think I'll install them both and see which one is better.

Now that I've read all these posts I think I can pretty much say that I've narrowed it down to 2 choices: Opera or Chrome. I think I'll install them both and see which one is better. Yes, I've used them both quite a bit and I must say I like Opera better. Chrome's 1 process per tab doesn't work very well and it's very slow (CPU demanding) with flash for a lot of people. It also crashes sometimes which is unacceptable for a browser. The main difference is that Opera is stable, yet Chrome is more minimalistic (no extras or tools). Both use up quite a bit of memory with lots of tabs, but there is no escaping that. Firefox is even worse, plus it hogs the CPU more than both Chrome and Opera.

Safari is quite fast too when it comes down to Java. Eventhough Chrome just wipes them out.

I've been an internet explorer user my entire life and I only recently heard all the ranting that internet explorer sucks and people still use it, has so many security holes, blah blah blah blah blah. I have a few questions though since I'm obviously new to all the different web browsers around. I want a browser that will give me the best performance when running a lot of multiple applications. For example, I like listening to music while browsing the internet, while keeping my starcraft minimized, while IMing my friends, and sometimes playing a browser game on top of that. Which browser would give me the fastest speed for that? UHH... Close one between Opera and Chrome. The thing is that Opera is the most compatible out of all browsers, so you're going to have less trouble with it than Chrome. It's also the most memory efficient. Like if you have 10 tabs open, it takes up far less memory than any other browser. However, Chrome is by and far the fastest out of all the browsers... ever. Holy crap it handles Javascript so smoothly and so efficiently. My only problem with it is that it's too bare and unmodifiable (well you can hack it, but too much effort). Frankly, browser games are usually Flash applications anyway, so the only limit there is your internet speed. If you want an all purpose browser, go with Opera. It's install size is extremely small too (10 MB? Wtf that's like nothing). It has features like no tomorrow and it's really comfortable to use. Pure speed = Chrome. Simple as that. If your PC is fairly modern (within the past few years), and all you care about is speed, go with Chrome.
