Mouse4+Mouse5 Copy/Paste Macro?

pheer 5399 Posts September 07 2009 16:25 GMT #1 Has anyone heard of binding their "mouse4" and "mouse5" (side buttons) on their mouse to copy and paste respectively? It would only need to work within the windows environment. Even if someone knows of a tray application that intercepts these buttons and calls the copy/paste API's. Thanks~

reciprocate United States41 Posts September 07 2009 16:31 GMT #2 I've used a couple of Logitech mice and they both came with Setpoint that can bind the side buttons to the Ctrl-V and Ctrl-C macros.

GreEny K Germany7312 Posts September 07 2009 16:35 GMT #3 Dont the mice with macro buttons come with a disc that lets you make the side keys whatever you want? Some do i know that because we use them at my work. Im not sure if this helps you at all though.

Archaic United States4024 Posts September 07 2009 16:36 GMT #4 When I was renaming 200+ songs in my library the other day (i.e. 01-name, 02-name, etc.) I did this, in a slight variation. Click, drag, 4th button (which was set to cut). It made it a lot faster, and I could do it with one hand.

I have like 3) and yes you can set these buttons to the commands you mentions; copy, cut, paste. If you really want a tray application because you're not using setpoint or have some random mouse.. look into AutoHotKeys. It can do exactly what you're looking for (something like, when pushing [THIS BUTTON], send CTRL+C instead).

Snet United States3573 Posts September 07 2009 18:40 GMT #8 If you have logitech then your mouse should of come with some kind of configuration disc that allows you to modify your keybindings. I set my mouse buttons to do CTRL, so I could make command groups faster when playing SC whenever I got a new keyboard and wasn't used to the CTRL placing.

JeeJee Canada5652 Posts September 07 2009 18:45 GMT #9 yep, if your mouse doesn't come with software that does specifically this, just use autohotkey it's literally as simple as writing something like.. *code for the mouse button here*::^c *code for the mouse button here*::^v (can find the code easily using autoscriptwriter that comes with autohotkey or something similar)
