It's the kind of thing you hear from musicians playing outside of Disneyland trying to sell their latest album...with a target audience middle-aged women...

Exactly what I thought haha. Every 9th grade or conceptual physics class that I've seen uses this book.

It was basically a class that got rid of the preconcieved notions that a lot of high school freshmen have about the subject like centrifugal force, independent horizontal and vertical vectors for motion, Newton's third law, etc. Also there were very basic labs. I love physics though... my AP teacher was one of the best in the nation (based on what scores his students got.) In his first lab, he gave us the wrong equation for the acceleration of a ball rolling down a ramp, and when we all plotted a bajillion data points and got a clear slope that didn't match the equation, we all assumed we had done the experiment wrong. He started yelling at us that if we all got this result, of COURSE it means that the equation he gave us was wrong. It totally changed our concept of what a physics lab was supposed to be like ![]() I think everyone in my class got a 5 that year.

Schools are starting to implement a 'physics first' initiative where schools administer physics to high school students before the typical bio, chem, etc. Of course, a more advanced course in physics could follow chemistry.
