Update
Running just SC in compatibility mode, no crashes yet after a day and a half.
Well it does not happen often. But the only way to get out of it is to power down all the way and reboot.
only happens maybe 2x a week.
OS windows 7
Game BW
Launcher (either iccup or chaos both crash)
vent is usually running.
So basically i'm playing and then i lose all functions and my screen freezes. I'm also using 2 monitors.
Any tips or help on how to figure out what is causing my comp to freeze?
So ran in comp mode for both launcher and BW and it froze instantly.

Your first problem is using windows 7.

have you tried setting starcraft.exe -> properties -> compability mode to windows xp?

Windows 7 is quite buggy right now, especially considering the driver support. Use Vista/XP and you'll be fine. If you only have a Windows 7 install then its your fault for living on the bleeding edge.

It's windows 7. It has major issues running old games, it has something to do with the way the taskbar is drawn in 7 with or without aero. Lack of support for old games is about the only thing I can fault it for, I really like Windows 7
What you need to do is make a batch file that kills explorer before launching bw. Also fixes color.
Maybe MasterofChaos will be kind enough to include some sort of Windows 7 launch button for the iccup launcher
taskkill /f /IM explorer.exe
C:\Program Files\Starcraft\StarCraft.exe
pause
start explorer.exe

Oh by the way the problem with this fix is you can't alt tab, you have to quit out of bw if you want your desktop back.
On the plus side the windows key is disabled for you :/

i'm running sc without problem (except messed up colors in chat) on win7 (x64 professional), had freezing problems before i set it to xp compatibility.
\edit: even works without killing explorer task

Switch to Linux and run it using Wine.
It probably has something to do with your running Windows 7. Maybe it's because it's x64? I'm not sure.

Have you tried going to compatibility and checking "Disable Desktop Composition"?
I'm not sure if it'll fix SC, but it helps some other games

besides this, im having no problems. and its only an occasional problem.
windows 7 is far better than vista, and im not having any problems besides this random crash once in a while. Well Currently running sc in compatibility mode and after 1 day nothing bad happened so woot
