I honestly cannot handle about 90% of them. Some are cool I guess, but for the most part they annoy me to death.
Seems like there are a couple types.
First the complete troll/idiot who is just a complete fucking rude asshole to every single person. This guy is just in the channel to piss people off. If you say something this guy is going to argue with you and call you a fucking retard b/c he is incapable of understanding anybody else's view. I just finished trying to convince a guy in chat with the ID "Awesomeness", that a method to make money he was mentioning was completely illegal. He doesn't even let me type and just responds "no, no u idiot, no u retard u r wrong". I just gave up trying to convince this numbskull.
Next guy is the guy who is trying to be really popular or something through streams. He is on the featured stream chats 24/7. He private msgs the streamers in game about how the game is going, how the last game went, if he can get tips on the most basic sc concepts in the world. "Hey LZ I was wondering if you could give me tips on ZvP? You're like really good and I really wanna get good too I am D/D+ now..." ETC.
SERIOUSLY PEOPLE, why the hell do you need to ask the streamers in game or in chat or w/e THESE STUPID QUESTIONS. NOBODY WANTS TO FRIGGING SEE LZGAMER GIVE TIPS TO SOME D LEVEL PROTOSS ON WHAT TO DO VS TANKS. WE JUST WANT TO WATCH HIM PLAY GAMES. STOP ASKING THE STREAMERS IN GAME ALL THESE STUPID QUESTIONS AND STOP PRIVATE MESSAGING HIM "WOW YOU ARE GOOD LZ" EVERY TIME ME MAKES A GOOD PLAY. Seriously, it just pisses off the viewers.
The last type of person is the complete definition of a noob. How this person even discovered these streams boggles my mind. This guy goes apeshit when he sees vulture micro vs slow lings. This guy asks the questions about starcraft my grandmother can answer. This guy is just bad.
I'm just tired of the idiots on these streams. I just want to be able to talk on the streams every so often without all the morons (or the moron attitude at least).
I don't run into this problem because I either minimise the window enough to just see the game, or press the minimal button which just gives you the video screen.
Problem solved, and you save yourself the pain and keep your sanity.
I use to read the chat until too many people started saying Who vs who (Jesus are they so lazy as they can't even check), and is this live.

Somehow my brain has adapted to filter out the retards in chats so I'm usually oblivious to thier mindless chats but there is another category that annoys me greatly.
It's those morons whose names are always SKT1_Bisu, Savior, Jaedong, KTF_Flash etc. I mean, all they do is choose the nick of a good player and type stuff like " hi guise i totally obliterated that guy in pl today", "im going to win the msl, the other players are bad" and so on. Fuck that isn't even close to being funny and even ignoring them is hard because their nick appears in 60% of the lines in the chat.
I hate it when people choose some random ass color and also bold and italicise their type. As if we need to see something like "HEY GUYS BISU IS THE BEST I SUCK HIS BALLS" on every single line. As if they are somehow more important than everyone else.
The color fonts should be used only be the streamer himself, or people like translators who have a reason to make their type distinctive. Everyone else who changes their font color is just stupid enough that they think their retarded comments need to be neon.
You know, it's not about "Livestream people" like they would be some odd bunch of trolls who live under a rock. It's rather the format of Livestream and the constant typing by numerous people that makes short and provocative statements stand out. Thus people behave like retards in order to be recognized and this can't be done by writing a thoughtful post on TL.net.
I would not care about chat but problem is that even if you use zeroboy thing there is going to be hidden chat which gives lag when too much lines typed. They should just take chat off when they start streaming.

The stream chat is like the cesspit of competitive BW. Even if you want to have a decent conversation, there's just gonna be too much retards and clowns barging in there, rampaging through the chat like an elephant in a porcelain shop. After 1 minute, the whole chat turns into a giant, #@&%£ shitfest. I was in denial for a while, the first few days the chat was nice actually, but now I just never read the chat anymore because it makes me want to bludgeon someone to death, especially when they start ranting about the nice guy who is putting in effort to make sure people can watch his stream.

actually i think its best when there are only like 5-10 people in the chat since they wont be assholes. Its actually pretty nice to talk to them. It only gets bad when the stream has a lot of people.

You can just click on the stream to appear in teamliquid only. There is no chat room and you can just watch the stream without the chat. I do that everytime because there are so many mindless retards that post stupid shit.
Sounds like a simple solution to your problem, no?

The first kind is basically my brother. I told him something was against the rules in 8ball, and that he lost and for the next hour with my needing to fuel it, he told me I was an idiot, a fucking retard etc etc. It's not like there was any money on the game, some people just like to be heard, no matter what pointless crap they have to say. Now imagine you're trapped in a car with this idiot and you don't have the choice to just not read the stream of vulgarities.

If the API allowed ip tracking, ban happy mods cruising the chats could temporarily IP ban spammers and other transgressions on teamliquid.net. Unfortunately, I didn't see ip tracking when skimming the livestream faq.
