Usually a lot, with the exception of a major underdog winning, or a player I really like winning. Sometimes it can also be fun for it to be a scrappy shitshow, but just really close games.

As long as it's not a mirror match up I'm good with it.

Nothing worse then that, a mirror match up is almost an auto no watch for me in the grand finals, thankfully it's pretty rare.

Honestly, I enjoyed Rogue finals. Seeing whatever weirdo strategy he'd decide to beat someone to death with was fun

Watching Serral play nothing but defensive macro games, on the other hand...

I don't think a grand finals can _ruin_ a tournament for me, but it sure as hell can cement a good tournament into a great tournament.

What makes a tournament for me are good upsets, crazy long back n forth games, and the occasional draw

The game play in Grand Finals is extremely solid (obviously). Enjoyable as well, but not jumping-off-the-couch-fist-pumping exciting.

Hmmm, very general question, I guess it depends somewhat on the event. For example, something like HomeStory Cup or the Husky-HD Invitational or the Tasteless LAN Party are much more about the sum of all the cool and fun experiences along the way than just the grand final. But for me generally that's also the case for most tournaments, including the most serious and prestigious ones. If Jaedong-Flash happens at the semi-final that's way more important for me at this tournament than the grand final. Just yesterday I heard a football fan who only cared about Argentina-Brazil at the World Cup. He'd like this to be the grand final, but realizes it's only possible at the semi-final with current brackets. So for him such (possible) semi will be the most important match. I usually remember battles of big names, or battles with known historical rivalry, or some story behind the match up; the other thing is battles of unusual quality - amazing strategies, length, something very exciting about the games. That's possible at any point during a tournament, not just the grand final. For example, I'll forever remember when qxc, wearing a bandana, all-killed Mvp's IM in GSTL, including beating Mvp himself in his prime. That was in the group stage, so what. It's a match with more significance in my memory than many GSL grand finals.

Long story short, I voted a 2. The quality of the grand final is not entirely insignificant, it does have importance, of course. But it's not the event for me. Generally, the way to the finals is more important and has bigger chance of leaving a lasting memory about the event. A dull grand final does not make the whole event dull for me.

Imo for tournaments like GSL it's a major downer, for weekend tournaments not so much if there'd been great games for the rest of the weekend.

Just like in combat sports, we wanna see the best of the best duke it out. If that happens in a BO5 or more I'm happy regardless of how deep in the tournament. Has to be deciding doh

Love how you casually bring up the Husky HD Inivitational like it's 2011. Fun times back then but the games were so bad, thank god we didn't know better back then.

I prefer early group stages to grand finals, more "smaller" stories to follow. GET EM HARSTEM etc.

Usually by the time grand finals roll around I'm a bit exhausted

A great finals can elevate a good tournament to another level, but I don’t feel a bad finals detracts all that much from an otherwise great tournament

I felt like the finals definitely lessened the greatnesss of winning a G5L and I think GSLs definitely have fallen flat in the finals more often then not in the last 6 years. I personally think a bad finals takes a great GSL down a peg, but feel differently about weekenders.

this question troubles me. Kind of sounds like on the one hand you want a particular final, serral vs, maru vs OR if you are talking about the games, eg they cheese their way to the win/loss. Quality could come down to the actual players is what im saying.

The final is the final, its nice to see the regarded best in the world go at it but why this has any affect on your enjoyment of the other 30 odd games to getting there makes me believe the people voting here dont actually watch anything but the finals and would opt out if it was a mirror say.

come on. the most exciting final i wated was HAS years ago. hes a good player but you just didnt expect it. His builds are/were just insane, to have the brass to play like this on the main stage will foever go down as the best finals ever. Quality of play, low. Enjoyment, max 5000 or insert that bullshit anime saying to mean its overdrive. id never been so excited to watch since the idra days.

All about entertainment regardless if it’s 4-0 or 4-3

There are multiple cases where it was a boring final with 4-3 scores

As long as it’s a 4-0 rogue style beat down. I’m entertained

Series full of cheeses are the best to view
