Now see, whats the deal with this? Some complain about blogs drawing away topics from the general forum, and others complain about bringing blogged topics into the forum. If you guys are gonna be pricks about it, at least have some real shit to back it up with.

If you insist. ![]() Personally I don't like writing or reading blogs, which is why I haven't involved myself in blogging here at TL except a test post when the feature was being implemented. However, I'm not going to rag on the people who happen to like reading them or writing them...or those who get an immediate hard on when they even read the word blog. AKA physician ![]() But more importantly, I don't think this "general forum ruining" arguement has any merit. Firstly, I see no change in the general forum quality, be that a good or bad thing, personally. Secondly, the crappy "this happened to me today", "give me advice", "why don't girls like me", anecdotal threads that used to be posted all the time read like blogs anyway. So now, they are in the blog section, making it even easier for me to ignore their lameness. In my eyes, it's an improvement for everyone. For those that like that thing, it's put into a proper blog format which makes more sense for story telling/musings anyway. And for those that dislike it, it's now separated from the forum somewhat.

If you guys are gonna be pricks about it, at least have some real shit to back it up with. It was backed up by others previously in the thread, or some other thread, because who knows how many threads about the blogs there have been. There are a lot of shitty blogs that have no place being in the general forum and would just as soon get closed because of their retardedness. A lot of blog entries are pretty crappy, and we don't need to flood the general forum with these useless entires when someone decides to go on a blogging spree.

The thing that makes this site so great is the forums and the discussions in them. Blogs take away from tha a lot.

when the blog links are fixed and there's a way to track discussion on them it'll be easier to discuss stories and anecdotes on the person's blog Positives. 1. Is a dumping ground for all annoying threads complaining about people's lives that usually clutter up the General Forum. 2. Provides an outlet for people wishing to write who ordinarily wouldn't start a thread. #2 is a big deal imo. there are a lot of people writing things that they normally wouldn't if the blog feature did not exist. if you're not sure whether to make a thread and just want to write for 15 minutes and have a place to record it, blogs are great. they don't force anyone to read them. Negatives - Possible "taking away" of good threads from General. I just really don't think this happens. If a blog post is good enough the creator or a reader can just make a thread in the GF about it. there really are basically no negatives to blogs. to all those people saying they "take away discussion" from the GF, if blogs weren't there, the users wouldn't have created the threads anyway. so it's not really taking away anything, only adding another outlet for users to write.

I didnt counted them all, but there are probably about 60-70 blogs made. Of them maybe 80% are made by regular poster, who wouldnt be afraid to start a thread. Besides the poll shows that majority of the users here dont like the blogs.

But overall, having the blogs section has undoubtedly been a strong motivator for many people to produce some quality entries that otherwise wouldn't have happened ![]()
