I'm a moron and registered it because I didn't figure out the smart way to check if a name was taken. I figured, "Hey, I'll just try to register it, and if it doesn't work I'll know it's taken!", without considering the ramifications. If it's still possible to give me that name, it would be much appreciated. If it's too much work, I'd be satisfied if I had to eat the ban on this account and start posting on Node -- I'd just rather not actively break the rules by posting on that one while this is active.
