I joined TL somewhere around december 07 I think. I've always been mostly a lurker, sometimes a poster, but I still enjoyed reading through the threads, seeing what people were saying. I recognized most posters then.
Now the community is far too large for that to happen. My top three uses of TL are
1) TV guide (streams, etc)
2) News (results, VODs, event announcements)
3) Drama (gotta love keeping up with the drama)
Sadly, I really don't have the time to carefully read a lot of threads that have interesting OPs and potentially interesting responses. When I scan through a thread, I just look for posters of importance and see what they've said, as I don't really care much about what the average joe thinks.
What I'd love to see is a user-customizable way to highlight certain poster's posts. This would produce something similar in style to what's already been implemented in the strategy forum, except everyone would get to pick who they want to see highlighted just for them. I think this would greatly enhance my forum browsing experience, as I would be able to keep up with the posters I recognize or find interesting and can ignore everyone else much easier.
Thoughts?

Seems like it would hurt discussion type threads pretty badly. I could see it being useful for certain sub-forums maybe, but it would probably need to be implemented so that you could set it up only for specific sub-boards. And that would, most likely, be a massive pain in the ass for limited returns.

I dunno how it really hurts discussion threads... I (and persumably users like me) are not really reading most people's post anyway. I just scan for names I know. This would just make it easier for me to highlight the people whose posts I want to see.
This is mainly for any thread that gets beyond 5 pages. If I'm really interested in a topic, I might be able to read the first 2 pages word for word. After that, I don't really have the time, and I'd like to have a way to focus on just the input of those whom I value.
