My clue analysis coming up.

I've been busy studying for a bunch of standardized tests, so I apologize if I reiterate something that has already been mentioned. I'll read the thread after my post so that nothing conflicts with what I initially think. However, I've noticed that there are only 11 pages in this thread , which is pretty bad (since we hit the 20s usually). Silence helps the mafia considerably so even if you're not up for analyzing clues, please do something useful. Analyze behavior or something. That helped us tremendously last game with mrbabyhands and I suspect it will help us a lot now as well.

The town of Liquidia was
once again under siege
.
The language seems slightly odd here. Because the word "siege" is used, a list of those with siege tanks should be made. I'll do this after I read the thread. Also, when I read this, the very first thing to come to mind was "Rome: Total War." For any of those who have played any games in the series they'll know that the guy says "settlement under seige, sir." I'm not sure whether cobbler (or scaramanga if he's writing this) has played the game, but one might want to keep an eye on such references.

As he reached the top of the stairs, he heard a sound behind him, he turned, just in time to see a lunging figure bowl into him, flinging him down the stairs, leaving him broken on the floor.
Bloodyc0bbler was left to die slowly, which happened a few hours later.

Okay, this one's poorly written, so I can't discern whether the few things that come up are as a result of poor writing or not. I think the writing's intentional in that regard. Nevertheless, some words still stand out. Bowl, for example, means to walk or knock into him, but it replaces the more common and expected word "knock." Bowl could be referring to a bowling ball, a toilet, etc. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bowl).

Because "bowl" is used, "lunged" is used in a somewhat strange way too because it really should be the verb in this case (the figure lunged at him, as opposed to "bowl"), and not an adjective. It's a double descriptive, and because bloodycobbler's a decent writer, it appears something's being emphasized, most notably, concerning the motion ofthe mafioso. Anything with "stretching" or something along those lines in the future is most likely a clue.

"Flinging" is another one that doesn't realyt fit in with the deciription. You fling an insect or those triangular football things. Either this is a note about his size or his need for dominance because that's essentially what he's exerting.

uncomprehensable phrase
He didn't say incomprehensible phrase, which to me has to nuance that it cannot be understood under any circumstances, whereas uncomprehensible is simple difficult to be understood by someone, but still able to be so. Therefore, look for quotations that are exceedingly erudite or seemingly profound, just difficult to get.

before the tv exploded

Okay, so this characterization is easier. He's a bomber.

On a related note, it seems bloodycobbler only described two mafiosi, and I hope there's something to that. Although someone may have said it already, it's tremendously unfair to the town if only two mafiosi are described each day, no matter in how much detail because we can't analyze behavioral patterns. If you were intending to do that, it'd be day 15 or so before any pattern could be noticibly distinguished.

Are you insane!? It doesn't take that long to start analyzing behavior patterns. Behavior analysis was far and away more helpful than clue analysis in the last game which didn't even get halfway to Day 15.

mmmm, you took my post completely out of context, but I guess I was not clear.

I was referring to the written clues. Every mafioso has his own behavior which one can analyze IN THE CLUES. If Bloodycobbler is to continue doing what I think he's doing and there are roughly 1 mafia: 4 townie, it would be like day 6 before he's described all of the mafia in THE CLUES. Because it's so difficult to determine whether something is a red herring or an actual clue, it would take a couple clue posts before we could be certain of our characterization.

And yeah, I was part of that game. Behavioral analysis was what won that game for us. But that's not the type of behavioral analysis I'm referring to. It's analyzing the characters in the clue day posts.

Gosh, I'm really sorry guys for not being around the last couple of days. I should be more active over the next three days and then inactive again for the weekend.

Catching up now.

Alright, took the SAT, finished it, played some baseball outside, and now I'm in the mood once again to play this. More importantly, I have some time to do so before APs roll around this week.

I think we've been tackling clue analysis wrong this game. It was mentioned earlier in the thread that the clues, for the most part, are blatantly obvious. We've been overlooking simple things, I'm sure, and have forgotten to analyze why anyone's died (if that's unclear, read the general thoughts below).

The town dispersed once more, fleeing for the safety. Some went to their homes, others to places they believed to be safe. Everyone thought they were safe, the clock had struck 2, and no sounds were yet to be heard, all was clear this night.

The town gathered together for the day lynch and then separated directly after. This leaves it left more vulnerable, and sometime in between, the most exposed townies are killed (remember the day two post when fusiondf and pyrhuloxia split up. Each of them is killed individually). Although the above quote would typically not serve as a clue because it is not a direct characterization of a mafioso, I'd argue that it is in this scenario.

It's clearly a behavioral thing in this game. The mafia as a group only targets the group most unprotected and most susceptible to an attack.

The first thing that crossed my mind as I re-read the exact same opening for another day was "these guys are cowards." Perhaps that's the code word for one of them.

Furthermore, the segment that I boldened feels significant because it's exactly the same thought repeated on both sides of a "period." Although it's entirely incorrect stylistically, it have been done intentionally to draw attention to how secure Rage and truthbringer felt even though they were exposed. It seems odd that they would feel utterly safe at 2 AM outside, by themselves, in a town where people have been dying (they're armed which is possibly the reason for feeling safe). Someone mentioned this earlier and because it really resonated with me, I must say that it seems like they're intoxicated. They completely disregard their surroundings, and let their guards down, leaving them defenseless.

With that in mind, Rage and truthbringer left the bar

They're in a bar, so logically, they've been drinking.

As rage turned onto the block in which he lived

One does not live "in" a block, but rather, "on" one. This is probably not significant as I haven't seen any previous prepositions misused. Keep an eye out for such mistakes in the future though.

he heard a grunt from behind him, he turned and leveling his gun, saw a garrote wire around Truthbringers neck, and a figure standing closely behind him.

Okay, see what I meant earlier when I said this mafioso (it might not even be him since none of the characters have seen him kill anyone, which perhaps a clue unto itself) strikes the one who is most defenseless? Truthbringer was not armed whereas rage had a pistol.

Garrote wire - it's an execution weapon that can be used to assassinate someone because "it can be completely silent". Already, this theme of someone dying silently (first fusiondf and now truthbringer) is developed. That's this guy's modus operandi.

He darted to the side to get a better shot, only to feel something slam into the back of his left leg, dropping him to the ground, as he turned his head to the side, he caught a quick glimpse of a man swinging a long object, caving rage head in.

This is a run-on sentence, but I'll ignore that. Something slams into his leg. Because it's not specified, we cannot assume that it's a knife. Actually, the fact that it ISN'T specified suggests that it's something odd, like an icicle or an ice pick (off the top of my head). Maybe even a syringe, but that might be stretching it.

Okay, the other guy's a man (any girls left in this game?) who's particularly violent. He's swinging a "long object," which is another example of something left vague. This also indicates that's it's something strange (i.e. not a spear). I'm not a weapons expert so I don't know the name of the thing that comes to mind. Perhaps someone can help me out: it's a ball with spikes evenly spread out which is adjoined to a chain. A flail, maybe? (I'm intentionally looking for clues that link to qatol, and it's an extreme stretch, but this could be duck tape. It doesn't work though because it cannot knock anyone's head off, lol)

Someone mentioned an arrow, which might work, but I'm under the impression that it's a lesses known weapon. If it does refer to an arrow, it's clearly blue_arrow (following the simple-Caller pattern clues).

The three had each taken up guard at different points in the house to prevent being hit.

Once again, the same theme keeps coming up. Although they make themselves feel safe, they clearly are not.

Fakesteve gun pointed at the largest window, waiting for mafia to attempt to enter. Amber[light] was at the top of the stairs with a rifle aimed at the front door, and Infundibulum had a shotgun aimed at the backdoor.

This time, all of them are armed just waiting for the mafia to come, yet they are still exposed.

He saw Fakesteve’s computer on, which he knew had been turned off hours earlier, so he moved around the room. As he passed the desk he noticed a weird phrase on the screen.

I have no idea what to make of this, but it's clearly significant. Perhaps this is someone with an addiction and has to be on the computer. Perhaps he's very computer literate.

Okay, this is the "uncomprehensible phrase" guy. This is definitely a clue as it showed up in the Day 1 post. I'm going to read through everyone's profile and see what comes up.

he noticed a figure under the desk, and a metal glint in his hand. Two silent shots later, amber[light] collapsed to the ground, and the man fired another shot into the body’s head for good measure.

lol @ the guy hiding under the desk. The thing that needs to be pointed out is the overkill theme.

Infundibulum heard a thud from upstairs, and slowly started to back up,

He lets his guard down and becomes vulnerable.

staring at him from the kitchen, he moved forward weapon in hand, and charged, and let a shot fire.

He runs before he fires? I'm not sure what the point is, but perhaps he's already planning his escape?

waving an object at Infundibulum, with a wicked smile on his face.

Once again, he simply says "object" instead of specifying what that object is. Perhaps all of these "objects" are the same?

Not sure what to make of the wicked smile but it stands up as a somewhat redundant details that isn't redundant in this case. This guy is a sadist. Anything that might allude to a sociopath would fit nicely as a clue.

Fakesteve[tpr] never had a chance to retaliate; he turned towards the kitchen at the sound of shotgun fire
,

He felt an object glide through his shoulder and down to his heart, and something probe his jacket pockets before the void took him.

WHOA. This is completely messed up. Something EXTREMELY sharp was used. I thought glass only because he used the word "glide," but it's clearly a sharper kind of sword. Anyone familiar with such a weapon?

This guy's also a thief.

Three blocks away, Ace was gathering his things, and then lifting a hood over his head, he left his house, in search of clues towards the mafia hidden in the town. As he left his house, he saw a man, eyes wide open, shakily level a machine gun. Moment’s later ace was dead.

Caller says this points to him, and I see no reason not to listen to him.

Showtime! and laxercannon headed for the gunshots, hoping to be able to save whomever they could. As they ran, they saw a man hiccupping and swaying moving towards them. Showtime moved to see if he was ok, and moved his hands to steady him, the next thing Showtime! knew, he had a knife stuck in his chest. Laxercannon turned, and drawing a knife of his own he moved to attack the man, only to stop dead, as an arrow pierced his neck. As laxercannon fell, he saw a man stepping out of a nearby alley.

This seems to strongly point at quickstriker. Showtime gets a knife stuck in his body in less than a moment.

And wow. There's the arrow. BUT. Whereas I mentioned it before as an unlikely clue pointing at blue_arrow, this seem to be the blatant sort of clues bloodycobbler is using this game.

-------------
Based off of the two clues, two people obviously come immediately to mind: quickstriker and blue_arrow. I did my best to intentionally look for clues that point to qatol, but nothing really stood out. Because this is the most important day for us, WE NEED TO LYNCH A MAFIOSO.

qatol, I understand that what you're going through is difficult, and I really sympathize with you. But at the same time, you still have a responsibility to this town and you can't keep making the wrong decisions. We've been more than understanding by voting for those who you asked us to, and although the clues don't seem to fit you, you're next in line unless you pin-point a mafia today.

Going purely off of the clues, I'm inclined to vote for quickstriker for now.

Right now, I'm waiting for someone who's good at behaviorally analyzing people to confirm whether quickstriker is mafia. Furthermore, has blue_arrow been speaking with anyone via PM? He's only made one post in the last week, so it's very much possible he's genuinely inactive (part of the reason I'm also voting for quickstriker)

To conclude: I have a strange PM that might be worth sharing. I'm not quite sure what to make of it, but I'm keeping my word by posting it. Read from bottom up.

ok. sorry for being so inactive this game. I'll start posting in the thread I guess.

I was much more active the last two games because I had good roles (godfather and detective) and because I wasn't as busy as I am now. Sorry if my inactivity this game is ruining it for you somehow, I'm not really sure what to do as a townie other than to vote for stuff.

I'll think more about if I have time to play mafia when the next game comes around, but for now, I'll catch up on some reading and post if I feel necessary.

-----------------------------------------
Original Message:

y'know, I just clicked on your profile and apparently you HAVE been active. You've posted numerous times outside the mafia thread in the past week, but nothing inside the thread.

Unless you give me a reason not to, meaning start posting in the thread, I will be FULLY convinced that you're mafia.

----

Furthermore, your logic makes no sense! Why would you want us to lynch you if you are a townie? Don't you know that we've gone through two days without substantial leads on anyone? Why would you WANT to waste it on you, a GREEN TOWNIE, as you say.

EXTREMELY SUSPICIOUS
-----------------------------------------
Original Message:
I dunno, I had only read the part of the thread with Malongo's reasoning and decided to go along with it. TT

Yeah, you should really be suspicious of me, but w/e, I'm a townie, you can lynch me if you really want to.

-----------------------------------------
Original Message:

Well, if you're inactive, then why not abstain from voting instead of just going with malongo.

Why'd you vote for tricode? what's your reasoning?

-----------------------------------------
3 lions:
oh. I've just been extremely busy this week, and I'm really a townie. I haven't been able to read much of the Mafia thread. sorry for being kinda inactive

-----------------------------------------
me:
mmmmm....I'm just wondering why you're not posting at all in the big mafia thread. You've been accused on two separate occasions, one of which was legitimate.
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=91680&currentpage=7 And you never responded to either.

It's extremely suspicious, and if you don't respond to this PM, I'm going to have to assume you're mafia and will bring this up on the forums.

Mynock is clearly mafia and so is RoL. Please re-read their posts in the last three pages. It's absolutely incredible. They've been having too personal conversations.

If the double lynch goes through, kill them tomorrow.
