Not too much to go on yet, but a couple things jumped out at me.

On April 22 2009 06:54 BloodyC0bbler wrote:
He quickly moved along the corridor, glancing in each room as he went by, slowly making it to the stairs leading down to the entryway.

Intentional contradiction? Doesn't make much sense at this point, but it seems like it could be important.

As he reached the top of the stairs, he heard a sound behind him, he turned, just in time to see a lunging figure bowl into him, flinging him down the stairs, leaving him broken on the floor.

Somewhat odd verb usage. Broken on the floor stands out almost too much, could be a clue, could be a red herring.

Across town, Scaramanga handed some parcels to a courier, and closing his door, walked to his living room, and began throwing stacks of paper into his fireplace, burning as much as he could.

Only clue that seems to single anyone out to me; Monoxide.

Shit. Well, I guess we can't expect to lynch a mafioso on the first night.

I kind of doubt Showtime is mafia. Even if he were the godfather, I don't think he'd want to attract so much attention to himself.

That said, when you have limited rolechecks and the possibility of faking a role as GF, we have to be careful about how much information we concentrate on any one person. We risk completely exposing our blue list and strategies if that one person is a mole. Info SHOULD be dished out on a need to know basis and we need to fragment power/knowledge so that if one of our heads is knocked off or a traitor we can still function.

Also, I think getting stuck on 2 or 3 suspects on day one clues is counterproductive. As cutthroat as it sounds, we should basically be doing a scattershot of accusations. Suspect me, suspect Qatol, suspect everyone. This way we can isolate the behaviors of those who react differently from the rest and have a chance at catching some of the dumber mafia before clues can really help.

Edit:

Unless there ARE two godfathers, this is a huge advantage for us. It used to be that only the town could take friendly fire, but now the mafia will have to be working as hard, if not harder, to identify possible hits. This opens up new strats we can use to screw with THEM and try to plant seeds that certian players are mafia of another family. It's no longer taken for granted that they have perfect communication within their order; if they don't organize, they'll be killing each other off left and right faster than the town ever could. This opens up possibilities for both infiltration and misinformation.

Pretty much the worst thing that could happen is to have someone say you're suspicious and then die, lol. Glad I'm not the only one he had doubts about.

I'm leaning towards Monoxide in terms of clues and JeeJee in terms of behavior. I'd still like to get more discussion in first though, voting seems a bit premature at this point. Approx. how long will this day last, BC?

While JeeJee seems extremely defensive to me, I think he does have a point about how the snowball against him isn't backed by quite as much as some of the other accused. At this point I'm going to go with Monoxide, I think.

As for Qatol, I think we have to decide whether or not we want to play the odds. I think he's probably legit, but he's completely unaccountable. So we basically have a 4/5 chance of a small towny advatage if we centralize power in him (being that he can't be easily killed, is active and smart), but a 1/5 chance of a large towny disadvantage if he's mafia of any kind. If we picked another vet who knows how to run things (Showtime, Ver, Ace, etc.) and ran several rolechecks on them, we would have either a 98% or 96% confirmation (depending on if there are 1 or 2 GF's). However, this would waste rolechecks and our organizer would be more vulnerable and need extensive medic protection.

Actually, now that I think or it, it would be practically impossible to keep one of them alive if the mafia wants them killed. Even if they only have 4 KP we might need all of our medic force on it. This makes me think Qatol or decentralization on info are our best policies.

Thoughts? Any way we can get reasonable confirmation of Qatol?

uhh... I don't see it....Can you give me more examples, and I will tell you why they don't apply.

Certianly.

"Bloodyc0bbler was left to die slowly"

Carbon monoxide poisoning is a slow death.

"Scaramanga handed some parcels to a courier, and closing his door, walked to his living room, and began throwing stacks of paper into his fireplace"

This produces carbon monoxide.

"Pyrrhuloxia fired, just as his opponent tripped forward just under the bullets path before stumbling into, and stabbing pyrrhuloxia"

This death was basically accidental, as carbon monoxide poisoning is in most cases.

"Nemy turned to the commotion and got up to save his friend, only to take a few steps and collapse, with a burning sensation in his lungs"

While carbon monoxide poisoning is painless, you can't deny that this is the strongest clue so far that can be traced to a single person.

I really doubt you'll be able to change my mind, but I'll give you a chance to defend yourself before voting.

Look, Monoxide might still be a suspect but I won't accept this burning sensation of the lungs. I think Nemy got a bad drink slipped in.

The drink and Monoxide one doesn't make sense to me. Plus Bockit and Nemy didn't feel tired and slowly pass out. It wasn't like they felt dizzy, began stumbling, and/or most importantly feeling tired.

I'm not implying that they were actually gassed, I'm just bring up references to the substance that have been injected into the text. Since he hasn't gotten back yet and I'm going offline, I'm putting in my vote for Monoxide.

Make sure you guys all vote in the link Versatile provided if you still haven't. I'd like to have seen a deadline for this, but in lieu of one we don't want town affairs being dictated by a select few if you miss it.

Carbon Monoxide is not really a slow death... its acutally quite fast. It is slow in comparison to a bullet, for example, but then so are many of the narcotics.

Looked it up and you're right. Usually kills in under 2 hours.

Accidental death == CO poisoning?? now you're just making stuff up...

I still think this makes perfect sense. Could any other name be tied to accidental death? Maybe 3 lions, but that would be one hell of a stretch.

Soo you're telling me, even though the clue doesn't fit, you're saying its a strong clue cause that's the best you got. Nice

My point was that if someone isn't familiar with the specifics of CO poisoning they might assume it's painful. It's just a general reference to gassing. But I suppose that would be selling BC short, he seems pretty bright. I agree with you here as well.

On April 27 2009 07:05 iNfuNdiBuLuM wrote:
I think the problem with this analysis is that these are all clues from different deaths and thus pointing to different mafiosos. Unless BC has drastically changed the format of clue writing, you cannot link all of these clues to just one person.

Oh, really? I wasn't familiar with BC's method. In that case, the evidence against him isn't so heavy. Sorry I was so zealous, Monoxide.

In light of this, I'll be changing my vote to Quickstriker.

I think they could both be mafia, but the case for Qatol is certianly stronger. Plus we could potentially rolecheck Ace (if our remaining DT's are active) but Qatol is immune. Maybe the next day's clues will reveal something that will change the game, but at this point I would lynch Qatol.

Wow this moved fast near the end. gg guys

I tried to stay really active in the thread and behind the scenes at the start of the game, but as the clues against me piled up I pretty much just decided to passively read the thread and wait for death, lol. Not that I can blame BC for all the obvious clues; by day 3 they were seriously needed to balance the game and I should have had more in my profile to go off of.

My hat goes off to Ace and Malongo; you guys played well. Shame about the towny inactivity.

And Ver is just magnificent. From what I've heard, most of our blue hits were his handiwork. With a mafia godfather and that level of behavioral analysis, I knew this thing was in our favor.

And let me just say that Pyrr is the unluckiest guy in the world. Seems like everyone he was in pm contact with was mafia. xD
