Something that I've been wondering for a long time is why casters relay what players say instead of production just micing up the players. For example when Kaelaris tells us that Vortix says "if you're not going to scout im going to play greedy" wouldn't it be better to hear it first hand instead?
Poll: Should players have microphones? No (37) 88% Yes (5) 12% 42 total votes Your vote: Should players have microphones? (Vote): Yes (Vote): No
I can see this being a problem with players who talk a lot, but atleast it could be worth a try? Maybe production can turn it on or off during certain parts of the game so it doesn't interrupt casters when there's interesting stuff going on.
Also, does anyone know why players talk to themselves about what they're doing when there's risk of your opponent hearing you?

Uhem. Did not Kaelaris meant that figuratively as in VortiX plays like that knowing Nani does not scout. And yes, players do not talk during games most of time (maybe some bubbling but nothing worth of being heard by others). For rest there are winner's interviews :D

Do not forget, casters have other stuff to listen to.... heck, even co-casters.

I dont know if that shit would work in sc2 , its a 1v1 game , in team game set ups that would be amazing.
for example in the last HoN tour , team stay green streamed their skype conversations while playing , that was fun to listen to.

Not for SC2, very good for team type games though.

No, it's not only Kaelaris, they all hear what the players are saying while they play, so I thought it would be nice if we could too

You realize they'll speak spanish/korean/swedish/whatever to themselves and that its probably unintelligible if they even talk at all?

I hate this idea unless we're micing Grubby. Mic that man up and I'd listen to him play all day lol.

I'm pretty sure they don't hear what the players are saying while they play...

You really think players would say something like that? all you will hear are curses and woot's. Please, these players got enough to worry about already so don't put a mic in front of them and say "cast your own game as well".

What do you mean, they talk a lot because atleast two or three times a game we get to hear it from the casters

It's done a lot but I heard it a few times today at WCS EU and it hit me that I'd rather hear it directly from the player

Is it not likely that these players were thinking to themselves, instead of actually speaking outloud to themselves? Especially considering they have headphones/earphones on that prevent them from hearing things besides the gamesounds?

I doubt the casters even hear the players. The casters merely reads it from the game.
