This past weekend I had the pleasure to attend a local LAN tournament at Game Zone up in North Seattle, WA along with a few Clarity players and some other friends from the area. Among the notable attendees were Clarity’s own ClaritySterling, ClaritysAikOu, and ClarityMystery along with myself, ClaritywinteR. We were also joined by our friends coL.Poo, MYi.KawaiiRice and MYi.Tileä. Another Seattleite ROOTCaliber also dropped by a bit later in the tournament to hang out and see some of his old friends from LighT (Kawaii, Tilea, and sAikOu).
All in all it was a fun little tournament, and a pretty long day. A big shout out and thank you to Chris Anderson at Game Zone for organizing and hosting the tournament as well as providing the prize pool. I spent some time talking with Chris and he intends to get a monthly tournament together for Starcraft 2 at GameZone going forward.
If you’re in the Seattle area you should definitely come check them out. I will be doing my best to get our guys out to the tournaments every other month, if not every month. It would be great to get some more of the Pacific Northwest Starcraft 2 community together for these tournaments. A small group of us went out for dinner afterwards, but it would be awesome to expand this group in the future.
Anyway, enough about all of that! Below is a brief recap of how the tournament went down.

Everyone agreed to a random seeding for the brackets due to the large amount of skilled players in attendance. Unfortunately this resulted in a few team kills. MYi.Tileä basically ran the table in the winner’s bracket, taking every series and eventually first place in the tournament; unfortunately dropping teammate KawaiiRice down to the loser’s bracket in the winner’s round of 8.
An impressive performance by a somewhat lesser known player, Sonic, landed him second place overall behind Tileä. After talking with Chris throughout the day I learned that Sonic is a regular to the GameClucks LANs, often finishing high at each of them.
Complexity Academy protoss “Poo” took third place after defeating KawaiiRice in the Loser’s Bracket Ro. 4 and receiving a walkover win against ClarityMystery, who unfortunately had to leave early.
ClarityMystery, our Academy zerg player ended up placing 4th despite the walkover. It always sucks to leave a tournament match unanswered like that, but it happens. Hopefully next time Mystery will have a chance to redeem himself!
Receiving quite possibly the worst end of the bracket was Clarity’s third player in attendance - ClaritySterling. Sterling had the unfortunate luck of having to play the tournament winner, Tileä, in round 2 of the winner’s bracket. After a close series with Aiur in the loser’s bracket Ro. of 8 he was unfortunately eliminated. Sterling is another Seattle local but it had been over a year and a half since he had last attended a GameClucks LAN. You can definitely expect to see more from him in the future.
Thanks to everyone who came out to the LAN. I hope to get to meet more of you locals in the future. Now for the final top 8 results!
