I am speaking up against this racism. It is NOT normal to be white. White people don't see white people's race before they see they're face, because they're used to the race. Same with black people and black people. But if a white person sees a black person's race before they see their face, then a black person sees a white person's race before they see their face. To say it goes one way or the other is saying there's a difference between the races... It's just how the world has always worked, and I believe it's how it always will work until we have so many mixed race babies that everyone is just a nice tan color. Racism isn't fair, people shouldn't be discriminated because of their ancestry, but that doesn't mean white people are more prone to racism than any other race. Also, I'm having a hard time deciphering your opinion on the site... Do you support their argument, or are you saying something similar to what I'm saying? I've gotten bullshit tickets by cops that weren't white. I never considered race as the reason. Using race to defend yourself only helps perpetuate the problem of racism, because now people use arguments like, "Black people always pull the race card when they can." It just creates a new stereotype. Once people stop seeing people, including themselves, as black or white, and just see everyone as a person, there won't be any problem. | ||

And in the bolded part it makes it sound like you have had multiple contacts with the police because you have been doing stuff that is illegal and that when they gave you 'just a warning' was in fact the appropriate time because you weren't doing anything at that time. Not sure if I am interpreting it right or the wording is a little muddled. | ||

I'm one of those white folk, and I've had to work in a particular city near Toronto Ontario Canada, which is well known to be over 60% populated by persons of Asian decent. If I am (and I have) been mistreated directly because I am white, is that racism? Or does it not count because I am white? Personally I don't care what colour your skin is. I judge people solely on their personality and ability. Employee not pulling his or her weight? I get them off my job site. Someone is rude, loud, or too outspoken? I tell them off. I hate incompetent and rude people equally. | ||

He gets punished when he should, just like everyone else. | ||

I'm a bit confused by the examples of Privilege here http://unfaircampaign.org/about-us/f-a-q/ : I can walk around a department store without being followed; I can come to meeting late and not have my lateness attributed to my race; I am able to drive a car in any neighborhood without being perceived as being in the wrong place or looking for trouble; I can turn on the television or look to the front page and see people of my ethnic and racial background represented; I can take a job without having co-workers suspect that I got it because of my racial background; I can send my 16-year old out with his new driver’s license and not have to give him a lesson how to respond if police stop him. To me, "unfair privilege" implies an advantage that people shouldn't have. But all of these examples are things that everyone should have. So while having these privileges (surely they ought to be rights?) denied based on race is of course racism, the solution is to make sure that everyone has those privileges, not to deny them to those who already have them. | ||
