Hey all!
I'm not quite sure whether this should be in blogs, or whether it's OK being here, but please move if not appropriate!
So this has sort of been a problem for quite some time in the past already, but it's probably a bit more prominent of late - and it's an issue about getting Live Report OPs up and updating them in a timely manner.
I'm not a fan of pointing out names, but in the past few months there have been many times in which Live Report OPs have gone up late, or they are not updated. Such times make for a poor experience watching SC2 - after all, a significant portion of the fun we can get from watching the games live is also participating in the Live Report thread. It's fun to be swept up in the epicness of the games, build hype, or even balance/caster whine as necessary!
So when the Live Reports are up late (e.g. SPL and Code A are the worst culprits) or not updated it makes for a sad experience ![](/mirror/smilies/frown.gif)
I know that usually there are a few reliable people who are good with this (Shellshock1122 and JBright come to mind, as they've done this a lot recently), but when these guys aren't available, it's a bit disappointing that the community doesn't feel like stepping up to help. A lot of the time, if Shellshock1122 can cover the event, then he'll make the thread - but if he can't, he will often let the community know in the preview or previous night's LR about this fact.
All the LRs are premade and it's a fairly simple matter to make the thread. So all I'm asking is that - if you intend to watch all the GSL/SPL games for one night, and there isn't an LR thread up a few hours beforehand - please consider making a thread! It's no fun for Shellshock1122 or anyone else to have to chase around people to do so.
When I was making LR threads a few months back, I would be able to keep it up since I was free, and when I wasn't, wonderful people like Shellshock1122 or Probe1 would be able to cover for me, stopping me from burning out. So it's only fair I guess to ask that you guys help out from time to time when the normal LR'ers are busy.
Managing one night's thread is not that difficult - all you need to do is to post polls, link LRs and update the OPs. Which sort of brings me to the other issue - please update the OPs! If you make the thread, you have a responsibility to the community to update it. Everyone will appreciate you very much for it. It gets easier with time and experience as well, and we're happy to help you through for first few OPs to get the hang of it! .
And I guess it would be nice if we could get people to Live Report the games, or at least provide a short recap of the games as they are done . It really helps for people who come in late and want to check out results!
Sorry for the ramble, this is kind of on-the-spur, I hope you guys are OK with the points I tried to make!
TL;DR - Make LR OPs early, update them in a timely manner.

I support these words of our LR bonjwa.

I just want to add in a thank you for people who run LR threads (including non-Korea events & especially minor events). I often join a cast late, or watch only part, and a live report thread really makes the difference for catching me up to speed & making me feel fully involved in a cast.

I wish i could help out more, but sometimes im not sure if ill be there the entire time.. thanks for all you do.

there's no need to really send PMs around to sort out days, though - if you see a GSL/SPL day not being covered yet and you're free that day, then feel free to make the thread :D shellshock would probably be the best to PM, though, if you wanted to, since I don't do a lot of this anymore and probably serve more of a consultant role than anything practical :o

Well, if you or shellshock needs a padawan, hey.

Great points! During today's GSL Code S Ro8 Day 2 LR, a lot of people came into the thread and asked for updates/standings etc. because the OP wasn't updated (especially people who check up on the OP from work etc.).
Big shout out to the people who take on LR threads by the way. Not an easy feat! Thank you for your contribution and dedication!

Is there any way to get R1CH magically code a forum thing to allow a select list of people access to LR threads? So for example if a LR thread is made by someone, other (trusted only) people can edit the live report post as well.
That would reduce the burden of one single person having to update a LR all the time. A trusted group given LR-only editing permissions for the OPs of LR threads might work, they would be almost like a mini-Wiki type thing in a thread.
Or maybe just make a Wiki template, embed it in the OPs, and then update the Wiki to update the post.
Some way of allowing collaboration on LR threads to trusted members.

you take this way too seriously.

Some way of allowing collaboration on LR threads to trusted members. This was sort of what I considered for a bit, but simpler in that I was going to make a shared account and give the username/password to a few people to edit, but after some thought it might be considered messy, especially if people make multiple polls or edit at the same time, etc

I feel like what is needed is a reliable way to know when an OP is needed. I usually arrive in the LR thread just when the games are about to start, and I don't pay attention to either the previous LR or the preview thread. I've OPed before but only when I accidentally found out that an OPer was needed.

NA and SEA obviously have better time zones for putting up OPs before. The only issue i had after you left the OP scene on LRs was a VOD issue, but i made a thread in website feedback and got that sorted with Shellshock and Bright (i hope it's right XD) It does take a lot of effort though to do LR OPs and update them for EU people and NA people due to timezones, but it can be done. The best thing for me to solve the issue is for TL to employ (in a sense) a person to do it, maybe pay them in fee's to get HD broadcasts of games, ala a GSL ticket and MLG/SPL one etc. Also...U SET THE FKN BAR HIGH OPTOWN rofl ![](/mirror/smilies/puh2.gif) (love you, gosu LR OPer <3) mmm of course - i'm in no way telling you (or any other user) that you HAVE to do it, and always have it up early, but consider it if you can haha

Rather have a ugly OP that actually updates the results. shellshock is a boss and premakes all the OPs anyway, so it's not too hard to get a presentable OP it's much smoother now than the days when people had to make one from scratch haha. it is a lot of work to premake them all though, so big props to shellshock1122!

Didn't know things were so dire. I'll try help out a bit more.

To be honest I've thought about helping out a few times when I've seen one not up but its REALLY hard to be able to do that given timezones. I'm usually in my office listening to the GSL whilst doing some work.
Need to move to Australia or something, heh.

You guys know I can only do the afternoon (KR time) sessions, so if ever there are early afternoon only games I can always make the OPs. Except for Sundays. So you should tell me to make it. Or make a schedule where you assign me those OPs. I can do the evening games too, but I will be a little late updating since I will be driving from around 6pm-8pm KR time.
So yeah, I can always do early afternoon games, so assign me those if you need me to do them.
