[Q] Opening replays post patch 1.5

Before patch 1.5 I was able to open replays just by double clicking them, but it doesn't seem to work any more. When I click on a replay SC2 loads and I log in but the replay is not launched.

The only way I can watch any replays is by copying them to my account replay folder and then launching them from the game. "Watch replay" option in sc2gears doesn't work for me either (SC2 starts but no replay is played). This is quite inconvenient.

I thought it could be an issue with my SC2 install, but I've reinstalled both Windows and SC2 recently and the problem still occurs. Is that intended by Blizzard?

Yes, especially annyoing when you want to watch old replays, you have to log in for every replay...

It is really a shame what blizz did with 1.5... That you had to have to login to watch the replay when Sc2 was not running was even bad, now this whole copy-into-folder -and-open-from-sc2 is even worse.

Now that you mention it, I haven't been able to do this either since patch 1.5. Though I'm sure it's better to gather all 1.5 bugs in the same place..

SC2 v1.5 updater messed up the paths in windows registry and it can easily be fixed. But if you do not know what you are doing, it is not recommended to edit the registry as you can mess things up if you are not careful. Also another possibility to launch replays without editing the registry is to drag them over SC2Switcher.exe or its shortcut icon. SC2Switcher.exe can be found from the support directory: [path to sc2]\Support\SC2Switcher.exe
