Quarter Finals
Now is the event you've all been waiting for, a spectacle of epic proportions, a true demonstration of Starcraft: Brood War at it's finest... But really, I'm not just trying to hype this, it's actually truth! Any of you remember the greatness of Gt vs sasNb, well, how about the finals of sasNb vs LRM where we witnessed two full 7 game series! Seriously, if you haven't seen those, you gotta go check them out... SO, with that said, GET HYPED!
Kicking off the first round of the playoffs, we have none other than LRM, our third place finish and the highest qualifier of the quarter finals and they will be playing against the biggest underdogs of the Gambit's Cup, reps). Now make no mistake, reps), despite their position has beaten just about every team in this league, of course, they have also lost to just about every team in this league. Now, do I want to leave this at a flip coin? No, of course not LRM has the clear better record and is a better team overall despite their recent slump. So to be realistic, we're looking at if LRM's at the top of their game, there's really not much hope for reps) unless they really pull out something extraordinary, however, if they slip up here and there reps) will be quick to capitalize on the advantage.
+ Show Spoiler [Detailed view on LRM] +
LRM)Game, LRM)nOoNe, LRM)Jinu
LRM's story really starts with their leadership, very solid and it's no wonder why, I mean, this leadership team has been involved in league organization for years giving them a definite edge in that respect, though they have shown capability to predict an opponent's line up to every last detail, they've also shown that they do make mistakes. It's really difficult to attribute mistakes to the player or the coaching staff, however some are pretty blatantly obvious.
LRM)Kolll
Now, I didn't really want to spend too much on the background, because realistically, I don't know how interesting that type of stuff is, so let us proceed straight on to the players. First off, Kolll... It's pretty evident why Kolll was chosen to be first on this list, quite simply, if Kolll is on his game, no Terrans or Zergs are going to stand up to him. Though, against a team like reps), he is highly dependent on the coaching staff. This is because, reps) is going to have three Protoss players in their line up and Kolll isn't going to want to be up against either GoTuNk or Tama because it just doesn't make sense to have this elite player in this kind of an unfavorable match up. Ideally, I believe Kolll will be coming out against Pro7ect and this prediction may prove to be easier than it would look due to the general placement of reps)' lineups over the course of the season. And, given the attributes of Kolll, it makes it very hard for LRM and reps) to sort our their ACE players in the event that the series does go 3-3. Let's be honest here, reps)' obvious favorite for the ACE is Pro7ect, but I don't see why they would send Pro7ect if they expect Kolll and LRM wont send Kolll unless they expect Pro7ect. I mean, this is a very difficult decision for both teams and I think both of them will be hoping that the clan war doesn't get to this point.
LRM)Pike
What is there to say about Pike, he is LRM's go to man for ZvP. If there is a suspected Protoss opposition, you can bet that Pike will be the one coming out of the gate. This, of course is not a very difficult feat for LRM to pull off given the Protoss heavy line up of reps). By no means is Pike incapable of playing the other match ups, realistically, he's probably their most rounded. However, when you're looking at a clan war situation, this is not really what you want to be considering, if he's your top guy for taking out Protoss, then you're going to have him do that ideally. Pike is the other main candidate for the ACE match, if reps) sends a Protoss, he's going to be wanting to be out there.
Quite simply, at this point, if you're not a fan of Pike, then you are probably on reps) team itself.
LRM)Choosy
Choosy is like a box of chocolates and who better to explain this to you than Forest Gump himself?
On a more serious note, it's true, when you send Choosy out, you just have no idea what you're going to get, one day he's a Greek God and the next he's just another peasant you met while walking down the street. Choosy's play is really unpredictable and this can either devastate LRM or really benefit them depending on if Choosy is on his game or not. Let's view it this way, if Choosy plays at his top level, the opposition has one more top player to deal with then they were already planning for, if he plays as he did in some of his losses this season... Then, LRM is down a player. It's really unpredictable and for this reason I doubt Choosy will get the attention he deserves fromt he opposition which could potentially swing a battle of predictions.
LRM)CaStrO
Let me just say, only remaining undefeated player on team LRM and highest wincount for any undefeated player in the Twitch.TV Gambit's Cup. There's really not much else to be said, CaStrO is a machine and he just doesn't get worse after a few weeks of inactivity. Now, I know CaStrO will receive a lot of criticism for his play style, some would claim he's not as good as he's made out to be. I'd agree, CaStrO is by no means the best player in this league and that's why I've already listed four factors for LRM before him. Though, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter, you can criticize CaStrO's play all you want, he still has a 100% win percentage with 6 wins under his belt. Having him back for playoffs is definitely a plus for LRM.
LRM)Bakuryu
The Mustache Zerg! I mean, clearly given past evidence this is indeed a Jaedong smurf, however, that's all there really is to say, Bakuryu is a beast, he's versatile and he can play any match up... I mean, here's the evidence of Bakuryu caught in the act:
These pictures are pretty old, but I think it pretty much proves the point, Bakuryu is pretty bad ass. I mean... He even would get his theme song played on stream [T/N: I didn't pay enough attention to if he got Sayle to play the same song all the time or if they were different]. So, already, if you are not hyped to see Bakuryu play, then shame on you, this gentle giant has never done anything to you! However, as this seriously relates to the Clan War, having 5 players all of this caliber, is simply imbalanced depth. Given, they're all Zerg (cept Choosy who racepicks), but... Yeah, I'm pretty sure Bakuryu will be looking for a protoss, but he should be able to take down anyone aside from Pro7ect which becomes more of a tossup.
LRM)DragOn
DragOn is a very talented player, however, I'd say at this very point in time, he's pretty underrated. This is a status which I am quite confident LRM) gladly accepts, there is no reason why they would be upset with having another slightly underrated but still top tier level player. I mean, this is only said because he hasn't really shown any wow factor since returning from his time off of Brood War, however, we also know that he hasn't really been given the chance. We have to take into account that DragOn is evidently a big threat that will probably be undermined by many of the other players in LRM and will probably be able to pull off a surprise victory.
LRM)Bizzy
Bizzy is more of an honorable mention at this point, there's really no reason to predict that he'll be coming out against reps) being as his best match up is by far one that reps) will most likely not deliver.
LRM)OyA
I don't think he'll be there, but if he were to show up, it'd be right in his element for those proxy gates.
LRM)DeSka
Once again, status unknown, he is playing in the ISL, so is likely active, will he be there for LRM? There is just no way of telling.
LRM)Shad
It's still to be seen if this acquisition will actually turn out, I don't think he'll be holding a position in the line up though he has the potential to be.
+ Show Spoiler [Detailed view on reps)] +
reps)Plumbum
The head honcho, the guy who makes things happen, none other than Plumbum himself gets to start off this page about reps). Now, Plumbum, well,... Err, I can't help but compare him to a comic character from a sitcom, he's just way over the top at all times and you never know what he's going to do next? Or do you? Now, the most interesting part about Plumbum is his victory dance...?
Now, to be honest, I'm not too sure what this means, but the characters always differ slightly from e-mail to e-mail. And then, we have the exact opposite of the victory dance which is his sad panda act... It's about equally intensive, but I care not to show it here. And so, now I'm drawing a pretty good picture for you. Point being, he's a very interesting person and I'm sure you'd all be huge fans if it weren't for his already defeatist attitude.
Plumbum, shame on your cow, please finish your plate first, don't count your eggs before they hatch!
reps)Pro7ect
Evidently, up here on top is Pro7ect, the beast of a player that he is... I think Pro7ect will be evenly matched with most of the LRM roster, however, slightly favored. Though, his big enemy has to be LRM)Kolll who's ZvT is just unstoppable. reps) will likely be avoiding this match up at all costs, in any other match, Pro7ect has a good chance of winning, though, in this league, Pro7ect has been seen taking losses to lesser players than anyone on the LRM) roster... So, anything can happen, however, if reps) is to win, Pro7ect has to get that W, they wont be moving on if he fails to get it.
reps)Tama
Tama is the alternate ACE for reps), he has played so well thus far in the Gambit's Cup and I can't expect that he will stop now. His PvZ has been tested more than anything this season and it has been solid. reps) will definitely be looking for a win out of him and perhaps a snipe on Kolll which would be ideal.
reps)GoTuNk
GoTuNk's been on and off this season, he started off very strong, then transitioned into the exact opposite as he started. As of recent, he's claimed a couple victories, only time will tell if this win streak will endure into the playoffs and boy do they ever need it now.
reps)gag
This recent acquisition from iwL is an attempt to really put reps) a little bit higher up there with some added depth. Given his mixed results on iwL, he remains to be a question mark as far as playoff performance.
reps)Largo
[19/03/2012 4:30:27 PM] Кистерев Владимир: you ever knew

[19/03/2012 4:30:46 PM] Кистерев Владимир: benches
[19/03/2012 4:30:57 PM] Кистерев Владимир: 150?
Enough said, Largo is pretty bad ass. He wins moral victory and fan support at the very least. As for his Gambit Cup performance, less than admirable so far, if he could pull a steal in the playoffs, it would be huge for reps).
LRM)Game, LRM)nOoNe, LRM)Jinu

sas vs iFU is the second clan war of the day and boy is it ever a good one. These two titans will be going toe to toe in order to see who will move on and the winner is likely to play Gt in the following round (since 3rd place is always favored). Realistically, we're looking at previous champions against challengers, though to be fair to iFU, sas was paired with Nb and iFU themselves were not in the previous Gambit's Cup. With that being said, when active, sas still has the hardest 1-2 punch in the game and that's in Sziky and Ace. These players are sure to pull a couple of wins for sas which means, they only need one of 4 other players to win their sets.
