Over in the US there is the After Hours Gaming League.
We don't seem to have anything like that over here. I think with Europe's plethora of gaming/tech companies, it should be possible to do something similar.
With that in mind, here's what I've got so far:
I work for Codemasters. I know someone that works for Unity.
We are in the process of setting up a Codemasters vs Unity SC2 match.
The format will be something along the lines of:
5 x 1v1 games
2 x 2v2 games
1 x 4v4 game
Rather than an all kill format, which won't work with such a variety of skill levels, each team will put 5 players for 1v1s and each person will play 1 of them. If you want, you can field more than 5 players and assign them to only one of the match types. However, if you have exactly 5 players, they can play in all of the different formats (you can't have someone play in more than one of the 1v1s, though, if that makes sense).
Two questions:
1) Am I stepping on anyone's toes by setting something like this up? I don't want to get in the way of anyone doing something similar over here.
2) Do you work for a gaming/tech/whatever company in the EU and have some Starcraft players? Do you want to join in with our games? Do you want to make it competive by setting up a small league of our own over here?
I suppose that's more than two questions, but whatever.
If you're interested in playing, then let me know Codies vs Unity should be happening sometime within the month and we are looking to stream it as a small showmatch.
Hope all this makes sense. I am open to questions/ideas/people telling me that I'm a moron.
Go!
Thanks for the awesome evening everyone.
