Mojam - Game Creation in 60 hrs for charity

The creators of Minecraft, Mojang, are creating a game within 60 hrs to help raise support for charity. Mojang posted up a blog, asking people to vote for what genre and theme they would like to be made. They will take the highest and lowest rated vote and combine both of them into a game.

The genre is going to be RTS and shoot 'em up combined! And the theme is going to be a mix of Steampunk and Ancient Egypt!

Also, for any avid game designers (or anyone interested in the game), they are going to stream the entire 60 hrs of their game creation marathon on twitch.tv!

The game will be sold as a humble bundle, which means that you can pay however much you want, and select which charities receive what amount of money. I'm not sure, but I think you have to buy the game before it finishes.

Personally I'm quite excited about this. While I haven't played minecraft, I've heard alot about it. Being a fan of RTS and shmups I'd love to see what sort of crazy touhoucraft they could come up with.

this should be moved out of sports & games and into general since this is for a charity and not about a specific game OR sport. will also get much more notice aswell which will be good for what they are doing.

Holy shit, they're making a steampunk RTS. I'm really interested to see how good a game they make in 60 hours. Or wait, are they making a real-time strategy shoot'em up about steampunk in Egypt? I'm confused but excited.

This is fine. It's for charity, but it's about a game so I think sports and games is good.

well yes but i made a thread about this about 20 minutes ago and got half as many views at my post in 10mins as this one has had in 10hrs?

Unfortunately we don't move threads to other forums based on how many views they get. They go where they are supposed to go, and they get as many views there as people are interested in giving them. I do find it strange that more people aren't interested in this, it's such a cool idea
