What is the FXO Challenge?
The FXO Challenge will pit the community against FXOpen's professional players in some more light hearted matches. The FXOpen players will be playing with a range of handicaps which will be chosen before the matches.
In addition to playing against our players, we will be giving out FXOpen merchandise to participants that manage to beat FXOpen players.
We will provide a poll of all of the potential handicaps, and we ask the community to vote for the ones they wish to see in action!
How do YOU get involved?
Each week we will be choosing a number of community players to challenge our professional players. If you would like to apply please send an email to fxochallenge@gmail.com and we will contact you if you have been chosen to participate in the FXOpen Challenge!
Why do this?
FXOpen wants to involve the community in the fun side of e-sports, and there is no better way than to have our own players face off against members of the community in some light hearted games. At the end of the day the core of gaming is fun, and this show will be hopefully be providing lots of fun!
Episode 1
Handicaps:
- For Aiur! - Every time you warp in a building that probe has to charge into the enemy base and suicide.
- Artosis Pylon - All tech structures must be built with only the 1 pylon powering them all.
- Out of mind, out of sight - The players minerals, gas and supply will be covered on their screen (our casters and players will be in the same room, so this can be enforced)
- Talk to the techsperts. - The player must build two of a tech structure (Cybernetics Core excluded) before they can utilise any of the units or upgrades that can be learned.
- Day 1 Beta - Warp Gate research cannot be used. Only normal gateways.

What kind of handicaps would we be seeing?
Not sure if I'd apply. I could never win and I honestly prefer seeing FXO beat everyone else for my own amusement :3!

Not allowed to make more than 3 of any unit (excl. workers, ovies).
Must make one of every unit before attacking.
Not allowed to use the attack or attack move commands.
Must kill one of his own buildings (with a gas cost above 0) once every minute, starting after the first is built.
Must not expand to his own natural or standard third base, and must expand twice before attacking.
Must not kill more than 10 enemy units within any 10-second interval.
I've gotten kind of tired of the standard TL Attack handicaps (no stalkers lolololol), so I think creative handicaps could be a big draw for this series. Also, please no dogs in the background.

I'm nowhere near good enough to participate, even with handicaps =/ but I'll contribute some? I think good handicaps would be
Terran:
Can not build any production buildings inside main base.
A stalker, roach or marauder must be killed with pure hellion (Or any other armoured unit besides a queen).
No reactors allowed.
Protoss:
Zealots and sentries are the only permitted units
A pylon heart must be constructed at any point within the game
No forge upgrades are allowed, all cybercore upgrades are good though.
Zerg:
A base must be destroyed with pure baneling (nexus/CC/hatch, bonus points for lair or hive snipe)
A spine crawler must hit an enemy non-offensive building (bunkers during bunker rushes, cannon rushes, offensive spines, w/e.

Stealing shamelessly from the TL Arena in Brood War but I casted some of those so I can kay?
- Kill initial worker, must kill on eof his first probes before mining
- Ooops - Must place all expansion Nexus one grid away from normal
- Maxmimum 5 gateways

- Double Tech - You must build every tech building twice before you can make the associated unit
- Artosis Pylon - You must power at least one extremely important building with only one pylon
- Gas Cap - Only allowed one gas per expansion past your Main
- Observer Cap - Only allowed one observer alive at any given time

Inspired from watching sheth go afk at start of games and win: Time handicap - Player cannot do anything at the start of the game for x seconds.

I know there was a Funday Monday on this, but there should be a handicap (dunno if you'd call it that), that the FXO player MUST expand every X minutes (5ish?). Would be sick to see pros get away with it just due to their superb macro and such. Or not
