Maps MLG Metalopolis MLG Shakuras Plateau MLG Shattered Temple MLG Tal’darim Altar MLG Testbug MLG Typhon Peaks MLG Xel’Naga Caverns
Additional Rules and Set Up for AM Pool/Bracket: All players below Master Level are put into this event. If 17+ players we will run Pools dividing everyone up into as equal as possible groups and play Round Robins. How many players advance will be determined by the number of pools and how many players are in the Master+ Bracket. Pool Play will be 2 Games (not best of 3) with scoring as 0-2, 1-1, 2-0 Map Striking will be used to determine 1st Map, with loser of the first game picking the 2nd map. If 16 or less players we will use a Double Elimination Bracket Best 2 out of 3 for the entire bracket.
Seeding will be determined by League with some randomization.
NOTE: Adjustments to either Pool or Bracket could be made as a Day Of decision based on time, computers, attendance, etc. So the >16, <17 rule is simply a guideline.
Additional Rules and Set Up for the Master+ Bracket: All players of Master League and above will be put into this event. Master+ Players are "encouraged" to show up for the entire event though to help with coaching if possible and/or do commentary and interviews for the Live Stream (plus sponsors will be there earlier in the day not later so get your free NOS during the AM Bracket haha). To be determined on an event by event basis, we will also include the winners of the AM Event in this. Double Elimination Bracket Best 2 out of 3, Grand Finals Best 3 out of 5
Seeding will be based on Top 8 from previous event seeding 1-8, the balance of the Master+ players seeded randomly and then the AM Winners seeded last in order of their win/loss in the AM event as possible.
Map Selection: A default/starter map will be established for each bracket round and used for the 1st Match in a set. Loser of a match pick the next map from the available Map Pool.
Other Rules: Players may not have a stream of the game in the background.
Any sign of cheating may result in a Forfeit of the Game or disqualification from the Event.
No Map may be played more than once in the same Set.
Players who are disqualified prior to the start of a Game will not be allowed to play in the Game. Players who are disqualified during a Game must quit out of the Game.
No Spectators or Observers allowed in game.

Are you running 2 of these a month now? Im sad that I was only able to make the first one, but when I return to the US in 3 weeks i'll be coming as often as I can.
|
No one per month, just setting a more perm date for this. I am going to try and stick with the 3rd Sat of the month every month.
IDEA Rick (Convict) and I talked about. Want to know if this is "good" or "bad" with you all.
We are thinking we should change the brackets up to where we have a prelim bracket that is for anyone that is less then Master League and then a 2nd bracket for Masters and above AND the winners (top 8ish) of the Under Master bracket. For my own simplicity we will call these "Pro" and "AM" brackets. Pro is Master+ bracket, AM is the Under Master.
AM Bracket: Everyone less then Master league is in this bracket. We start it at NOON and either run Pools/Round Robins of 4-8 people or run a bracket (have not decided which yet). We then take the Top 8ish from this round of competition and advance them to the Pro Bracket.
Pro Bracket: We start this (in a perfect world) at say 5pm (sign in at 4pm for this so we know who is in it) We take all players Master League and above and enter them into this bracket. We then take the Top 8ish from the AM Bracket and enter them also. This bracket is then played off to determine the winner.
What This Does for GameClucks Events: This allows people in the lower leagues to play more matches for one. Allows them to play more competitive matches for a tournament instead of the usual 1st round match up against a top level player. Gives a lot of people a chance to get some wins they would not normally get in a tournament and allows them to actually get better. If you are a silver player and you face off against a Master 1st round, you do not get better by getting destroyed in 5 minutes. But if you are a Silver and play a Gold in the first round, that match should be more competitive and give them both a chance to learn something.
The Down Side: Master++ players have to wait for their 1st official match until 4 or 5pm... but your bracket will go much faster also since there will likely only be 20ish people in it, instead of 30-50.
I would like to see Master Level players show up early and maybe do some coaching before and after a match to help people learn the game. (not during the match though as that would be unfair at some level).
Good idea? Bad idea? Try it? Dont try it?
Its your guys event, so I would like your input on it. I am very much leaning towards doing this as I think it will make the event a far better experience for lower level players. If you are a Silver or Bronze, how many times will you come to a tournament to go 0-2 in it before you stop showing up? This helps prevent that I think.

I think that its a really good idea. This way it makes it a little more competitive for the lower level players, fighting to get out of the AM Bracket. Also maybe a small prize should be added for the winner of the AM ? Just an idea that could make it a bit more interesting.
Also I wouldn't mind showing up early before the Pro bracket to help coach some peeps.

I'm liking this new format alot! Speaking as a bronze-silver player that has gone 2 and out each time
Either way I still have a great time at your events and would show up whatever the format is.
BYOC please!
|
the point of going to a LAN tourney is to improve. it's experience you can't get anywhere else. this new format allows the lower lvl of players to actually get that experience. rather than being like poor john7kfc and going 0-2 out every tourney. i'd say it's a great idea. it'll also allow some of the lower lvl players to actually come to the tourney as well. i know a few people who went to first tourney and don't come anymore cause it's like a free donation to kawaii. so i think it's a win win for gameclucks and for the players as well.
|
i really like that idea. while i don't consider myself a bad player or not (diamond league), i have come to the tournament twice now and get 0-2 real quick... sucks when you're matched up against sterling then jujuzerg
i'll definitely be coming back to this next one! put me down as byoc please

RockEr aka Geoff's brother, Colbey?

If the masters players wanted to play more games, they could also do pool play to set seeding like the top pool at MLG.
I like the idea of an AM bracket
|
this would give me more time to word on my dance moves and yoga classes because i wouldnt have to show up until 5ish.
picnic approved
|
this would give me more time at home to search for my inner self while i puff on some mary.
JuJu approved (>")>
