[GSL WC] Semifinals Winners Interviews

- Your thoughts on making the finals?
In practice, I was having a hard time vs protoss opponents so I came to the stage a little bit worried. I am happy that I am in the finals.

- You were able to defend the 4 gate rush perfectly, any thoughts?
I was a bit nervous, so personally, I don’t think I blocked it that well. But other people have told me I stopped it pretty well. If it happens again in the future, I will show that I can defend it even better.

- What was your overall concept on today’s matches?
I thought I would go with the flow. I didn’t practice anything special.

- Do you have any particular reasons why you drink that particular drink? (He is asking about the tea that he keeps drinking in every match)
In SCBW, that drink was a sponsor of Woongjin, and it’s a drink I used to drink often. I like the taste of it, so I am going to keep drinking it.

- You also only seem to drink from the large bottle, any reasons?
Things seem to work out when I drink from the big bottle, so I am sticking to it.

- Amongst players, there are talks that TvP balance has been a bit broken, your thoughts?
I feel like it has become a bit harder than before, but I can’t tell you until I play it a bit more. I am sure, like before, I can figure out a new solution.

- Was your games today indicative of this new “solution”?
Today, I just went with the flow (Literal translation was: I played as I felt like).

- Who do you want as your opponent in the finals?
I think MC has been to the finals too many times. If he plays too well, it is law that jealousy from other players will quickly follow, so he should lose this time, and I hope Marineking advances. Also, I will send him (Marineking) packing on stage to the “Kong Line” (Referring to the perennial second place finishers, like Yell0w and such).

- If Marineking advances, it will become a TvT, your thoughts?
I been having a hard time against Protoss, and if it becomes a mirror matchup, I don’t have to worry about balance. I think there is less to think about in a mirror matchup so I like it.

- People say your play has been perfectly resurrected, your thoughts?
Before, when I won, I felt like every time I came onto the stage, I would win. Now, I often have thoughts that I may lose. I do not feel like my play/confidence is perfectly resurrected. If I win, I would say it’s been resurrected to some degree.

- Any last comments?
I want to thank Yongwha, Seed, and prime’s Hongun for helping me practice. I was joking when I said I would send Marineking away packing to the “Kong Line”. I am quite friendly with Marineking, so I hope he won’t get mad after seeing this interview. During today’s matches, the game disconnected once, and I have heard that if you play terran on battlenet, it more often disconnects, I think there may be a problem with battlenet.

- Your thoughts on making the finals?
I practiced mainly for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, sets. In games 1 and 2, I played so poorly that in the 3rd set, I thought there was no way I would win today. But still, with as much as I have practiced, I was able to believe in myself and come back with a win, so I am especially happy right now.

- Your reason for the loss in the 2nd set?
In the 1st set, the surprise tactic that I used, worked around 90% of the time in practice, so I predicted it would work. And I thought it would be a surefire win. So in the second set, I tried another unusual strategy to try to come back. But I was really disappointed because I lost both games so easily.

- In the 1st and 2nd sets, was your loss caused by your late repair on the bunker?
His attack was so strong I was caught a bit off guard, and I also made some mistakes.

- You tried to get wins early in the games, was it because your opponent was MC?
To be honest, if it wasn’t MC, I would feel like I could beat any other protoss in a regular match, but it was MC today so I prepared for him that way.

- When were you sure that you could come back and win?
In the 3rd set, when the void ray came, I thought I would lose easily there. But somehow I held off and when I received the GG in the 4th set, I regained my confidence and went for the win.

- Was your strategy in the 5th set improvised?
MC has a tendency to poke and be aggressive in the early part of the game. So even when the score was 2:2 I didn’t think he would change his strategy so I prepared a strategy that would crush his early aggression.

- Your expression after winning the last match wasn’t too good, why?
I was in disbelief that I came back to win the match, and I was really proud of myself. My expression being that way is just because that’s the way it usually is.

- Your opponent in the finals will be MVP, your thoughts?
I think if MVP was to face MC he would have lost. So after beating MC, if I lose to MVP that will feel really unfair. I will not lose this time.

- Your prediction on the finals score?
I lost 0:4 last time, so this time I will win 4:0.

- You will be the first person to be in 3 finals, your thoughts?
Unfortunately, that isn’t 3 wins, so this time I really want to win.

- If you don’t win, will you accept the fact that you are in the “Kong Line”? (Players like Yell0w who were stuck at silvers)
Unfortunately, yes. (Laugh)

- MVP said he will send you there, what do you think?
I think to be in the Kong line, you have to win an event previously. Therefore, I will win this time.

- Your thoughts before the finals?
I will not get demolished like last time. I was able to take revenge on MC, so since I have been given a change to take revenge on MVP, I want to show that I am better than MVP.

- Your personal thoughts on TvT matchup?
I haven’t really played TvT against MVP after the finals last time. TvT trend are quickly changing. So whoever comes out with the better strategy, or whoever is able to come out ahead in small exchanges will decide the winner.

- Any last comments?
I really want to thank my teammates, Hongun, Anypro, Angelgirl, and Creator, for helping me practice like it was their jobs. I also want to thank IM’s Yonghwa for helping me as well.
