I insist, insist, insist, that broodwar would have been twice as fun, and twice as balanced with the two following changes to zerg.
A.) Hatcheries would have been worth 2 control
5 hatcheries would equal 1 command center in control, which is balanced when you figure that terran is climbing the tech tree, and zerg need 3 hatch per base to get the necessary production to compete with terran's tech.
This also eliminates any need to do 1 or 2x gas trick.
It still follows the 2 same 1 different pattern found in the data structure of the game.

B.) That the overlord was capable of landing, but NOT capable of lifting back off, the consequence being a loss of mobility and usage as a dropper.
By landing, it would be confined to that spot, and then have a creep radius begin to form around it.
This would also be AMAZING for doing attacks like defense rushes, etc.
