Round 2 : Saturn

1st match Hexatron Dream Team vs GO (greatest ones)

Game 1 : Leg(p) vs Xellos(t) on Neo Forbidden Zone

Our very own leg was very aware of the possibility that he

would face the "perfect terran" on this particular map, and

he wanted to practice hardcore on it. But his problem was

this; none of the big terrans wanted to practice with him.

His solution? Play PvT team melee vs rek/assem. Did it work?

Read on

Pre-game shows a very eager Leg, and Xellos as usual trying

to be Sync. Leg lands down at 7, with Xellos to the right at

5. Xellos opens cc before rax while Leg goes the only thing

he can do - gate gas core. Fast expand for terrans got hit

badly with the neo version of fz, natural moved away to

prevent the easy hill defense earlier possible. Leg goes the

standard robo and obs, while Xellos float down his first

factory and goes to work on a starport. A bunker and tanks

are defending the expand, and leg's first goons are forced

back - but only a little.

Leg slyly ferries goons into Xellos' main, and supports them

with a killer reaver. Xellos is not prepared and loses a LOT

of scv to the reaver before tanks can be brought back and

Leg's forces are killed. Leg has meanwhile expanded to 11

main and adds gateways on low ground. Xellos' quick drop is

stopped cold by probes, all while Leg is turning up the heat

with goon harass at the terran expand and another reaver

drop in Xellos' main. Fries some more scv, and Xellos is

only defending now. Leg takes another expand up at 11 main,

and terran is only now getting a good fac count.

Well, this is still Xellos, OGN champion and WCG winner.

Leg's 2nd harass attempt is stopped cold by siege tanks and

vultures, and Xellos push all the way to Leg's 11 nat exp.

Leg, realizing he can't hold, counters on the terran natural

with masses of goon and reaver support. Xellos' defenses

fall, and only with the use of all his scv and new mech from

factories is he able to save his expand - but ALL the

workers are gone. Leg was also able to sneak a shuttle and a

reaver into the terran main to kill even more scv. Leg is

really on, and Xellos is working overtime just to keep his

bases together. Leg is also taking another expand at the 1

main, bringing his base could up to 2. (main mined out)

Xellos, trying to get back in the game, goes to the protoss

main with tanks and vultures, but again Leg let a base go

and brings troops to the terran main instead! A reaver and

zealots kills ALL of Xellos' scv - again. Leg is down a main

but a shitload of gateways at both 1 and 11 promises good

news for our hero. Xellos is not even mining gas and his

main mineral line looks almost intact. He tries to take

control again with a tank/vulture strike at the protoss 1

base, but Leg brings in shuttles and the attack fails

horribly.

Xellos is not the one left clueless, and sets up a push

below the 1 base. A heated micro war ensures, where both

players brings in all reinforcements they can. After what

seems like an eternity of fighting, Leg lets his base go and

drops Xellos' expand instead, completely wiping out the cc

and another huge group of scv. Xellos is still hanging in

there with another expand at 1 nat, but Leg has yet another

expand himself and deftly saves his 1 main with another

shuttle group. Our australian hero is in the driver's seat

now, and finishes things just the way he started; picks off

masses of scv with world-class reaver usage and finishes

everything with a huge attack and guess what - reaver to

pick off any scv's left. Xellos has finally had enough and

types out.

A great, great game by Leg. Xellos' classic play could not

halt the whirlwind that Leg leg loose. Without a working

economy and with his bases in flames around him, Xellos

simply fell short this day.
It should also be noted that Leg won the figherforum mvp

(most valuable player) for his great performance this game.

Post-game interview by our own uhjoo

Score : 1-0 Hexa

Game 2 : Dream.T)TheSiva(z) vs OverSKy(z) on Incubus

2004

A short zvz game where OverSky gambled hat first and Siva

punished him bigtime. OverSky could not prevent the

destruction of his pool and got sunken rushed by Siva and

his earlier speedlings. Before OverSky could finish another

pool his main hatch was gone and Siva overran him with mass

speedlings.

Score : 2-0 Hexa

2nd match Soul vs Pantec

Game 1 : Hwasin(t) vs Sir@Soni(z)

Hwasin(@12) of course bunker rushed Sir@Soni(@6) and forced

him to cancel his 2nd hatch that was in his base and sunken

up. Fortunately he got his hidden 2nd nat running and

despite putting a good deal of money into sunkens pulled off

a good start. Hwasin turned his start into a quick academy

build and managed to hurt Sir@Soni's econ (bad sunken

placement) with a quick run-by. Soni did not take much

damage and went spire at his expand.

A look at Hwasin's base shows the standard fac/port tech

with marines for support. Camera shows a short fpv and

Hwasin scans the spire tech. Some quick turret planting

prevent any harass, and Soni is stuck picking on tanks while

taking his natural as well. Does a great job of abusing the

middle cross but can't stop the terran offense with his few

muta and loses his natural before it is online. Unfortunatly

he pushes too far into the zerg main and is overrun by

masses of muta. Soni retakes his natural and seems to be

switching to lurkers. Tries a quick strike at the terran

main but Hwasin's defenses are airtight and Soni falls back

to minimize losses.

Another large terran army leaves the safety of the main, and

again makes it down to bombade the zerg natural. But happy

news for the zerg fans; Soni is ready and lurker/muta brings

down most of the terran forces. Hwasin wisely retreats his

remaining m&m while floating a cc to his natural.

The action is on again soon, with Soni taking down the

terran nat and Hwasin on the other side of the map taking

down the zerg nat. Both pushes forward into the opposing

mains, but Hwasin found more luck and had a better defense,

leveling the zerg main while keeping his own. Soni types out

when his main is gone.

Score : 1-0 Soul

TheRock(p) vs TheWind(z) on Alchemist

The perhaps best PvZ in the world vs the has-been TheWind.

Should be a good game, and I'm eager to see what TheWind can

show in his first 1v1 game for a long time.

The game is played on Alchemist, a crazy map with elements

from Hunters, Nostalgia and Namja. Rock opens strong with a

cool cannon build behind TheWind's exp minerals, but is

stopped for some reason (stupid camera). 2 probes is

harassing the zerg main, but besides stealing some mining

time does not do much. Should probably mention that Rock is

down at 6, and TheWind is at 3, making them fighting at the

Hunters type terrain.

TheWind, having beaten back all of Rock's early tricks, goes

offensive with lings while teching to spire, but Rock holds

the lings and soon has a reaver ready to do damage.

Beautiful control by Rock picks off workers here and there

before muta and scourge finish the shuttle. Meanwhile Rock

is up to templar tech and a brand new expand warping at 7.

TheWind brings everything he has but is not able to stop the

new expansion, switches to hydra while adding a 3rd hatch.

Rock is now up to 3 archons, but TheWind shows excellent

muta control and harasses at every turn, all while building

a hydra army.

TheWind tries to push his hydra army up the ramp, but Rock

has full control and zerg is forced back. Both players calm

down and prepares for a longer game with another expand.

Faith has them running the long way around to force a better

attack position, and thus they meet half-way up at 12.

TheWind initially pulls back in the face of storm, but has a

mean surprise ready and hold lurkers take out all of Rock's

templars and most of his army. The ever-growing hydra army

finishes the job and TheWind goes offensive! Brings

everything he got down to Rock's new 10 expo, but runs smack

into devil storms! Rock covers the screen with psionic

energy and TheWind must see his whole big hydra/lurker army

melted by a few goons and templars.

Rock is macroing great and pulls another large army out of

his bases. Goes on another campaign, but is stopped by

sunkens and lurker below a ramp. TheWind takes this

oportunity to drop the protoss main, but damage is only

cosmetic. Rock has reavers and zealots defending, and the

annoyance is removes quickly. He adds even more gates and is

also taking another base up at 11, bringing the total to 5.

Looks like zerg has 4 bases running. TheWind changes tech

and morphs half a dosen guardians to attack the protoss

main, but Rock has a mean surprise - corsairs are already in

the air and guardians falls from the sky faster than the

supporting hydras to scarabs.

Rock goes on some bad counter-offenses and loses 4 reavers

to hydra, but why would he care now? Takes another base and

brings the total to 6, while running his now massive army

into the original zerg nat down at 3/4. TheWind holds, but

only barely. Rock shows his power by overrunning a ramp held

by lurkers and multiple sunkens, while sending a continuing

stream of zealots into the zerg natural. TheWind has had

enough and types out.

A brutal show by Rock, who dominated from start to finish.

Score : 1-1

Ccoma(z) & Yooi(t) vs Silver(z) Nada(t) on Eye In The

Sky

A quick game where Ccoma/Yooi rushed with 9 pool lings and

proxy 8 rax marines+scv. Nada was going vultures and got

hit, but somehow the Soul troops arrived at different times

and got killed. From there on Nada/Silver just cruised their

opponents to take the series.

Score : 2-1 P&C
