North Korea today heralded a "crucial" announcement as its biggest political gathering for three decades began with the clearest signal yet that Kim Jong-il has picked his youngest son as his heir.
Its pretty trippy that he was appointed a 4 star general and before that he was never mentioned, not even one word, in any official(the only kind there is) north Korean news source. They have to be wondering who the hell is this guy we have never heard of. Information about him is so tight even in the west we don't actually know how old he is.

I'd say that in a stalinist regime the leader is probably what matters most. There's really no telling as to what this guy will do imo.
the best thing that could come from this is if kim jung il drops today and there is a mutiny -> fall of the regime. otherwise empty threats of self destruction will ensue for another century.
Well, i hope the process goes on and finishes. Kim Jong-Un is much younger has been educated in Swizerland, i sincerely hope he can bring a different perspective, even a slow but consistent progress would be a tremendous relief for the NK people and the rest of the world.

wow... this story setting is a joke. South would never unite under North's flag. Their industries and economies almost non exist compares to the South, it's like asking them to foot a massive bill for a flood of refuges.
Ready to invade by 2025? Even China's own experts said they would be luckly to catch up by 2030 or 2040.
I know it's fiction... but I just can't help picking especially they layout the timeline, like it's very convincing.
