I think it'd be helpful to create a guide. We have the rules outlined in the TL Commandments, but no guide as to how the members of TL behave, as well as jargon that TL members use.
So if we can have suggestions/ questions in this thread I'll gladly update this OP and slowly create a guide to help TL newbies fit into our community better. I don't believe such a page exists on Liquipedia but if this concept works and would work better on Liquipedia I'll be glad to create/update a page there. TL Guide and Pointers
-Don't sign your posts with your name. We can see your name just fine.
-If you post a thread and it gets closed, there was a good reason for it. Please don't create it again without consent from a Moderator.
-If your account is temporarily banned (tempbanned), don't create a second account to circumvent the ban. TeamLiquid has IP Tracking and will only increase the tempban on your first account.
-Please don't post immature image macros.
-Please don't post "first!" or "second!" responses, etc.
-Please refrain from using "+1" or "this" or "qft" or the like. Each post should have something to add to the discussion.
-If talking about politics, please don't let it turn into a flame war.
-Respect those who moderate and contribute well to TeamLiquid. Respect Konadora or Smix for their translations. Respect Diggity or Klazart for their commentaries. Respect Mani, Chill, Carnac, and FakeSteve for keeping the forums clean and orderly. Without people like them (I've failed to mention so many names) Team Liquid wouldn't be the fun and productive place it is.
-If you wish to be treated like an adult, please post like one.
Slang and Jargon
FE or TLFE: Final Edit (Team Liquid Final Edit)- A series of articles written by the best of the best here on Team Liquid. FPVOD: First-person video on demand. Often used to show other players how a certain player operates in the first person. Imba: Short for imbalanced, used to denote when a certain race, unit, or mechanic is not properly balanced as StarCraft should be. In before close: Also inb4close, inb4, etc. A post that aims to exist before a thread is closed for good reasons. Under no circumstances should this be done on TL. LR: Live Report Thread. (Rarely Last Romantic. ) Nuke: When a poster is banned, sometimes all of his/her posts will be deleted, or nuked. His/her icon is replaced by a nuke. Tempban: Temporary ban. Period can be anywhere from a day or two to 90 days. Not a permanent ban, or permaban. TL;DR: Too long, didn't read. Under no circumstances should this be used on TL. TLPD: TeamLiquid Progamer Database, a database of known progamers and their records, teams, and matches. TSLD: TeamLiquid Starleague Database, a database of foreign semi-pro gamers and their matches. VOD: Video on demand. A video of a pre-recorded match. Many of these are available on TeamLiquid's YouTube Channel.
Also, newbies, feel free to ask questions. Please keep this thread on topic.
in before close = someone suspects a particular thread is going to be closed (probably because it's a retarded thread) and thinks it's a good idea to post "in before close" before the thread actually gets closed. hint: not a good idea.
LR thread = live report thread (LRs are pretty bad by now used to be much better)

Just out of curiosity what made them better back then and why are they bad now?

I used to adore live report threads. I still do some times, but since I got proper broadband internet and the livestreams kick ass, I don't look there as often. Sometimes when I'm low on time I'll skim an LR thread.
stuff that comes to mind that i don't think is explicitly mentioned anywhere else:
- don't sign your posts every time, we can see your name just fine
- if you post a thread and it gets closed, do not recreate it without consent from a staff member
- if your account gets tempbanned, do not create a new account to circumvent the ban because it will cause the tempban on your first account to be increased
- no retarded image macros
- no responding to threads with "first!" or anything like that

Actual Live reporting for people that lacked streams. It's mostly degraded to "OMG LJD GOGOGO" etc.

They used to be goddamn good when there was no livestream.com available and many people couldn't watch the stream :}

Is that for what I did in the guide thread, or is that supposed to be a rule?

I see, so LR threads use to be cleaner I'm guessing? with only just live report replies?
Edit - I agree with vGI-CoW, I don't know why people sign their posts... Also don't use TL:DR (too long didn't read)

it's a rule, but it's not what you're doing now
someone would be breaking the rule if they were to come into this thread right now and post something along the lines of "i don't have anything to add right now, but i'll edit some tips into this post later" - this causes needless clutter.

NEVER insult BOXER
Agreed... and also the fact to never insult each other in TL. Especially since I see so much hate and flaming toward each other time to time because they were stupid, ideals didn't mix, etc. I mean justified angry is ok but for such a stupid excuse, no.
That being said, when I first saw this this thread, I thought it was about a guide that's linking to and have an easy navigation to all the other guides that were created in TL. (Such as a quick brief info then link to guides created during the beta contests like guitar playing guide, korean guide, how to make FFPV, etc. making it easier for all of us.) Boy I was dead wrong.
