Complaints about moderation and freedom of speech are for the website feedback forums. They will be treated as being off topic and dealt with appropriately.
No more Iron Lady talk, no more gender debate. This is a thread about a StarCraft player. Last I checked what's in between your legs has no impact on how you play the game.
I agree with some of the comments here that the moderation on this thread has been dreadful. It's way too soft. I have gone ahead and simply deleted a bunch of comments that fail TL's community standards. Yes, those standards are determined by the mods. Yes, those standards are not perfect nor even uniformly applied. But we try our best. Spare us your righteous indignation over any notional impairment of free speech. This is a private site. It's a club. There is no "right" to free speech here. We only tolerate quality speech. By who's standards? Ours. Go read the TL Ten Commandments. And if you don't like this policy or our way of running our house, leave. - mensrea |

Right now I am honestly thinking, well she really just got picked up because she is a girl (I know this is a bad attitude, but I really think it describes the situation). I feel that there are several male players out there who are just as good but will not be given this opportunity because they don't carry the hype that a female player does. Only time will tell whether this was a good decision by Eclypsia or not.
That being said. Good luck Scarlett, please prove me wrong!
There are alot of pros who are worse than Scarlett who are on even higher profile teams than Eclypsia. She is significantly better than any other girl out there. If a male player had the run she had at IPL4 and he was teamless i would guarantee they would be picked up by a mid level pro team WHICH is exactly what happened to Scarlett. Hell you could argue that Scarlett is better then several of her teamates. No doubt you just read that a girl joined a pro team and didn't even know they player in question. Also can you list these male players who are more deserving then scarlett to be on a pro team?

I agree with what you're saying, but saying "she's significantly better than any other girl out there" is a gross understatement, in my opinion. She's on par with the top North American players right now, and with some tweaks to her playstyle, will easily outclass them.
In comparison, the other "top girls" besides Aphrodite are what... sort of high master's?

i am not sure how to feel about this, i wasnt very fond of the eclypsia roster until now. maybe i need to give them a chance!
gogo scarlett!

I think we simply place different value in the word significantly.

Yeah, I guess. I would say, like, "DRG is significantly better than IdrA," whereas saying "Scarlett is significantly better than Flo" is... almost offensive because you're comparing two players who aren't even on anything close to the same skill level.

Ehh, is it just me or does she sound a bit manly in the interview?

She's an MtF transgender.

I guess that by "top girls" I meant "girls who are in the spotlight." I'm sure there's more good girl players that neither of us know are female, but they haven't put themselves out there.

Nice to see this talent being picked up, grats to Scarlett and Eclypsia !
|
Not the team I was expecting, but huge congratz nontheless

I highly doubt that she was recruited for her sex/gender because whatever the sensibility on TL might be, for many she is not a female (how people think is independent of what you consider right or wrong). And I'm not too sure if recruiting a publicized MtF transgender is a selling point. It is almost sure she has been recruited for taking down a decent Korean and a recognized EU pro.
edit: congratulations btw

GL!! Scarlett is definitely a legit threat to compete at the highest level. I am very interested to see how far Scarlett can go from here

I don't know why people are upset by it. It was blatantly obvious if you know slog.

Laptops overheat much more, in large engagements the FPS drops considerably, and like you said the screen is smaller which makes microing harder as well as being able to spot things like drops in the mini map.

It's not so much that it's a laptop specifically, but that most laptops don't have the performance specs to run the game without things getting a little jittery. Macbooks can play this game fine on lowest settings. It's like using a new keyboard or a new mouse, it just takes a little getting used to. Playing on a laptop doesn't make someone "better."
