I think STX SouL might actually do very well since they have so many zerg snipers (shuttle, modesty, calm, hwasin) and Kal is being sent out first vs. a terran.

MVP's gonna get crushed. But I don't get why Kal's getting sent out first. Everyone's gonna be practicing to snipe him. And unless he gets 2 kills or more, it's essentially like wasting their best player.

My random analysis tidbits:

Kal is going to win 1 or 2 games. I don't think he'll lose to a Z unless they're doing something really fishy. If it is a Z that kills him I doubt it will be Zero, since they'll probably be trying some gambit build and don't risk Zero on it. I would include Kwanro, but fishy gambits are his specialty.

I expect the Kal killer to be less of a big name player. Just someone who is sniping him and losing. The STX pick depends on who takes out Kal. More specifically, whether it is a Zerg (send Modesty for the win) or one of the lesser races. I could easily see Shuttle coming out against a non-Zerg, though if it's a Protoss mayyybe Hero. He's slumping pretty badly though, so it's tough to tell.

People who are saying Calm is slumping are thoroughly wrong. Just look at his recent stats to see how stupid that claim is. I imagine he is performing fairly well in practice and STX is holding on to him as the ace. I think Zero will probably be Woongjin's ace player.

Such a difficult match to predict because so many players on a good day can take out the entire opposing team. I can definitely see... shuttle, kal, calm, modesty, zero, kwanro, and free all performing AKs. If STX can save modesty long enough for zero and kwanro, they'll win. I don't think Woongjin will save kwanro for 3rd though knowing that. It all comes down to free and how long he can stay out, cause that prevents STX from using modesty to take out opposing zergs. There is a really high chance we will see Calm and Zero Acing for their respective teams.

Kal > MVP. Fighting Spirit is a nice macro map though so MVP's got a decent shot.
Kal < Kwanro
Hwasin/Modesty > Kwanro
Hwasin/Modesty < free
Shuttle < free
Calm > free
Calm > zero

Each team can play map/racial matchup's really well which is why STX in the ZvZ mirror (where racial advantages have no effect) has a strong advantage. It is for this reason that I think STX will win. All i can say is ouch @ neo moon glaive and PvZ is a hard matchup on a lot of these maps which is where the strength of each team lies in. There can be definitely surprise appearances by either hero or July to snipe free. Oh, and Kwanro likes to choke despite how much I enjoy watching him play.

STX should have a slight edge in this. Stars just got AKed by Action, and although it was through three ZvZs, I don't see why Calm wouldn't be able to do around the same amount of damage. Similarly, I don't see many Stars players being a big threat to Kal. If/when Kal faces Kwanro, he'll on the lookout for all-ins (although I doubt Kwanro would do one in this case tbh), and Kwanro in a straight up ZvP should be no match for Kal + Show Spoiler +

although the same can be said for hyuk lolool

. So unless ZerO comes out early to take care of Kal, Kal might go as far as a 3kill here, as I believe his PvP is stronger than free's.

I can see either team taking this.

The arguments about Stars' zerg line being stronger seem pretty rational, however I wouldn't discount the fact that STX still has a good handful of strong players, and a couple players who could snipe Zero/Kwanro (YoonJoong, Modesty, and maybe Calm [if clam doesn't show up instead] or hwasin [pretty unlikely]).

Should be a great match whichever way it goes.
