Last night TeamLiquid strode onto the battle field to represent this fine site and forum against our nemesis, Reps.ru. Reps had taken second place in the player draft, and still managed to lose 2-3 in the first round. We needed a strong showing this week to put us back in the hunt for advancing to the play-offs. After the linups were drawn, this is what we faced:
by.Fantasy vs Sea.Finepix
Nazgul vs by.c0zy
PltO vs Reason
Daze vs Paris
Ret vs Selector
Obviously we would have prefered not to have one of the strongest zerg players up against Nazgul, but he took to the challenged and practiced hard for the past couple weeks. Today, he showed the fruits of his labour.
After attending a captains meeting an hour before game time, the troops rallied in the channel and got ready to play. Both FA and Nazgul admitted they were a little nervous prior to the game. Players from all four teams started to filter in, and when the hour turned, they paired off into their individual matches. Like a worried mother on the first day of kindergarten, I sent them off into the unknown and wished them good luck~.
Fantasy was the first one back, and I quickly whispered for the results. "win^^" came the reply, and I was happy because in TvT, Fantasy was not going to lose two straight with his choice of a map. However, in the channel, FA and ret were still waiting on their opponents, as Reason and Selector had not shown up.
Half an hour in, and the drama in channel was getting ridiculous. Reps.ru had three captains, but none of them were able to find their players. Finally, with a couple minutes to spare, Reason showed up on the scene. He and FA started their games, but both Daze and Nazgul were past the thirty minute mark. I didn't know if that was a good thing for Daze, but I KNEW it was good for Nazgul. Sure enough, when he showed up, it was 1-0 for the Dead King.
Because Selector had not shown p after 45 minutes, I talked to Ret and we decided to take a walkover. Our choice was to choose Leg as a replacement, but neither Ret nor myself wanted the big Aussie playing against his home. After a 1:0 lead gained over a forfeit, mixed results came in next. Fantasy, Nazgul and Daze were tied 1-1 with their opponents, but FA had come back fast with a quick win over reason. Things were getting down to the nitty gritty.
Fantasy returned first, and the 16 year old terran monser reported good news. After the walkover, it was 2:0 TL, when Mr. Walsh came marching back with a virtual smile on his face. 3:0 TL. Shortly after, Nazgul and Daze reported in. Neither of them had been able to close out their series, but with tough opponents in bot siz)c0zy and Nal_paris, nobody was dissapointed.
Final Results:
Team Liquid vs Reps.ru
by.Fantasy 2:1 Sea.Finepix
Nazgul 1:2 by.c0zy
PltO 2:0 Reason
Daze 1:2 Paris
Ret WO > Selector
TL 3:2 Reps.ru
This leaves us with an overall record of 4 wins and 6 losses. Making the playoffs is going to be very tough. However, we have used all of our players now, and can choose anyone we wish for week 3. Other sites are stuck using players they dont want to, like Fifo, who must use Ovvi and Quirion next week. I am hoping our flexibility will pay off.
AS FOR REPLAYS
Blizzard is collecting all the reps, and will release them when they are all collected. I sent mine in 10 minutes after the games, and I hope other sites did the same. When they are released, we will post them on the front page. However, I dont want to leave you empty handed, so I have put together a couple practice games that Nazgul and FA have kindly given me:
(remember, they are just practice, including off-races and testing of maps)
Nazgul This is a sneak peak at the strat used by Nazgul vs c0zy... remind of you anything?

FrozenArbiter The first practice game from Mr. Walsh.
Also, we have a couple TvP's from FA and Nzgul... more of "get in shape games" than anything. Might be fun to watch though.
Game 1
Game 2
Enjoy!
