I love women as a heterosexually-oriented man.
In fact, I am biologically (perhaps with some societal pressures) programmed to be attracted to big bosoms (enhanced or not), for they will greatly enhance the amount of mama juice my offsprings will receive. Why would I fight this urge?

Also despite my busy schedule as a college student, I love playing/watching Starcraft 2. Being a Korean and having pride in my people's successes and triumphs in this game only motivate me more to delve into this game. However, as much as I love the competitive scene, I love spreading my love for SC2 to non-gamers. Unfortunately, my first try (my mom) failed miserably.

Therefore, I see it as, at one hand, I enjoy watching MLG and GSL for SC2 excellence. But the other, watching Tara (and her journey to actually getting better) seems to combine what I stated above quite perfectly. I will gladly watch whatever entertains me and what I enjoy watching. This doesn't mean I will stop loving the competitive scene. It does not demean eSports in any way. What Tara does will not define what eSports is. It's just a niche within the game and the community that the few (a huge understatement) of us can enjoy.

nice straw man, but it doesn't even make sense

i never promoted any of the things that you said

you're equating a girl promoting her tits in order to get attention for herself to a company that is sponsoring the industry

why are they sponsoring the industry and why is she using her tits? Once you figure it out, it will make sense. It rhymes with honey.

*and to be fair I only used the analogy if she was infact 'maliciously exploiting nerd culture' she probably isn't, but even if she is, whocares.*

again, that has nothing to do with what i was saying

nobody said that this is "ruining esports"

the issue here is that this is presented in a superficial way, people point that out, and now people are white knighting the shit out of this and pretending that she's immune to criticism because she's a female

and I never responded to you to begin with until you called out my 'strawman', why are you even talking to me anyway? If you don't like my analogy tell me why or move the fuck on. You're tiresomely whiny.

i don't even know what we're arguing about anymore but the fact that you're compensating for your lack of reasoning/argumentative ability with response to tone and ad-hominem is humorous

It's actually pretty fucking simple. It also doesn't matter if nobody brought up the point, I did. The communties 'values' are silly and arbitrary.

Here I'll make it as simple as possible.

Nobody complains when corporate america exploits gamer stereotypes to push their product in the interest of (prepare for shock) making money. Yet some hot model does the exact same thing but with her looks and tits and suddenly it's a travesty. For some strange reason this community doesn't care when companies exploit us to make money because we 'feel' it's for eSports that they're really doing this to grow our cause. Like hot fucking pockets or Dr. Pepper gives any shit about eSports if they didn't feel they got an ROI. Why can't an individual do the same thing? Why can't a hot model play in skimpy outfits and be entertainment for the community that wants to watch while growing her own brand (herself)?

What's the problem? What's the issue? Why do you care? Are you forced to watch her stream? Are you really just so upset that she posted these particular pictures in a TL thread? Are you that upset she's using her body to 'promote' her stream? What if she was using a keyboard give away? What if she was using a beta giveaway? What if she was plastering her sponsors all over the post? What the fuck do you actually care about?

People use a billion things to promote their stream or their brand, and it has nothing to do with starcraft and it's never a fuss. WellI shouldn't say never, Destiny is evidence of that, racial language is apparently the line that mustn't be crossed. I don't see the problem with a hot chick using her body. The only issue I can see is you feel she's not geniune that she's exploiting her sexuality to make a buck off of nerds through exposure or stream views. Which goes back to my original point that everyone who sponsors esports already does that and I've already clearly defined that for you multiple times.

Sorry, Nightshade.

I'll love, someday, marketing as a Plat+ level SC2 player AND model. Right now, I don't have any credentials like that to draw in viewers. Simply putting "Gamer with lots of heart and twice the games!" would be cute, but not effective.

My point was that I am within the law, and TwitchTV ToS, and I am proud of my modeling career, gaming articles/work, and don't see anything wrong with making fun of myself and creating an interesting and different experience for gamers where they can feel mainstream and gaming coming together seamlessly!

Mia Rose already did this.

So according to Wikipedia, Mia Rose had sex with 98 men before she even did porn o_0. I wonder how many she's had by now...300, 400, 500?

Personally I'd welcome anyone who is an actual sc fan and geniunely wants to help promote gaming and e-sports in general.

Unfortunately Lindsey Sporrer (another aspiring model/actress) set a bad precedence when she basically feigned enthusiasm for SC and her desire to start/learn to play the game solely for the sake of her NASL gig. It was somewhat disappointing when people found out it was all an act.

All I can say is I hope you aren't just using TL for exposure and self-promotion. If you really are a fan of this game then I say welcome

Jesus, if you don't like the product Tara is producing, don't buy/watch/use the product, it's that simple. Her stream literally does no harm to you whatsoever. She's an extremely attractive woman playing video games, if you don't want to watch that, then don't.

It seems like she's doing an excellent job promoting SC2 to people who might not ordinarily watch or play it, and that's great.

EDIT: Not only that, but if you're actually offended (which I doubt) and think this demeans women gamers or ruins the scene (which it doesn't) then stop posting in this thread and bump Quanticflo's fan club or her stream page, or Scarlett's, or SlayersEve's, or StartaleAphrodite's. Bring positive attention to female gamers instead of a shit ton of negative TL posts.

People are critical on literally every thread I go to now adays.... it's kinda sad, people just need to stick to the "If you don't have something nice to say than don't say it at all" rule.

Anywho Tara Goodluck Streaming!!! I'll be tuning in when I can, And you can become master level at starcraft anybody can! Just takes hard work. :-) And stick with terran it's the only race that I actually can have respect for, the other races are too imba!!!

So yeah just work hard and stop playing D3 and just play sc2 nonstop.

Why do people care? You sound like those extremely religious peeps that openly condones everything that they dont agree with. If it offends you it is much easier for you to not have anything to do with it than her shutting down what she wants to do.

Okay, from reading this, all I get was:

"Even if you don't like being advertised tits to watch someone, how dare you interrupt my enjoyment of bouncy breasts?"

I mean seriously -___-, they aren't wrong. Can you guys say seriously that you would be as interested in this stream if we didn't get a preview of how hot she was? She isn't exactly good at this game :\, she posts like she's trying to be cute, the whole thing is generally based upon her sex appeal.

Now, that's not really as much of a problem that seems to quell so much attacks from both sides, because all she has to do is remove her picture, and just maybe replace it with a picture of her playing the game? I mean, how much would that resolve? All of it, because she's no longer advertising her sexuality, it just randomly appears in the OP. Now, the idea is that she posts a reasonable picture, not one with the skimpy clothing, and uses that instead. Why doesn't that work?

I agree with pretty much all of the other guys who were stating that she's giving an unhelpful hand to what girl gamers are: just gamers that girls by accident. If we look at Eve, Aphrodite, Scarlett, and Flo, we notice that they play the game at a respectably high level. Even MsSpyte, who isn't super hot like Tara but plays at Masters level, is a good example because she's working hard to improve her gameplay. This isn't to say Tara isn't doing that; it simply entails that her OP doesn't really give the vibe that she cares much about the game but more about gathering personalities for her modelling career, and I'm pretty sure that worked although it could only be a side effect of a picture that doesn't promote her for what she wanted for.

So, pretty simple solution I think, just change the OP picture? Just to one of her playing the game in reasonable clothing (basically the easiest picture to get), maybe bedazzle her OP with pictures of her gameplay, etc.

I mean, to want to market one's sexuality to such an extent that one actually picked as lewd a picture as possible isn't exactly what we should want as anything. I mean, why would we want a whore to be mainstream (which I think is the goal of every streamer)?

wtf who cares if she has provocative clothing on or not, shes a supermodel. is every female who plays starcraft 2 supposed to wear a business suit or 3 layers of clothing for them to be acceptable? oh no theres a stream of a female player who wears less clothing than most, i better start a bunch of shit about it even though i dont have to watch it if i dont want to.

people have to fucking lighten up.

i didn't tune in today but since you're playing diablo 3 ill tune in next time. gl hf.

Stupidest arguments ever. Most of my teammates have met her at Gameclucks and I haven't heard a single bad thing.

It's really stupid for anyone who argues against a person using their strengths to their advantage. Using attractiveness/sexuality to market oneself is no different than using intellectual accomplishments to make yourself look more impressive on a resume. People use what they have to get the most out of situations.

The argument that the only way someone can be legitimized by this community is by being good at the game is baseless. Entertainers make a living entertaining people, one can entertain in this game without being good at it. Day9 probably isn't a pro gamer, but people listen to his word as if God himself said it. Destiny isn't a top level gamer, but everyone loves him. TotalBiscuit, Djwheat, all those guys are far from being professionals, and yet they are pillars of the community.

If Tara wants to use her sexuality to entertain people on her stream, who cares. Further, if her doing this gets people who otherwise wouldn't have known about eSports into the community, that's a measurable benefit. It just so happens that she is the first one doing it. People also think that it's impossible for an attractive female to possibly be into gaming.

Gordon Hayward streamed and got featured, and yet he's a gold level player. Him streaming and Tara streaming are really similar, he even posted a thread on TL to advertise his stream - and nobody cared. Nobody should care about this either, other than watch if you want to, and don't watch if you don't want to.

Personally, I think it's great. If more models want to start streaming that would be cool. If James Franco started playing SC and streamed with a webcam, or some other hot male model... it would be the same thing. In fact, I call for some male models to start streaming and give female fans some eye candy to watch... then we can get a buncha self righteous threads about males exploiting their chiseled abs for stream views.

I was pondering how to reply succinctly and with reason. The quoted post above does it better than I could have.
Good luck tara, will drop in sometime and check it out when I have free time.

To all the people that came in here to give her crap, why dont I see any of your faces in a males stream thread telling him how he is selling out this or that because he isn't GM while streaming, or because he might be attractive, or whatever silly things you come up with to pretend your not being judgemental misogynists?
