Taking the Spanish on is almost suicidal (maybe Germany could take them on proactively). Everyone else has to play reactively.
You can play conservatively without putting on a bunch of defensive midfielders. This is crazy, to not even put Nasri on. I just don't see how France can really score with only Ribery and Benzema providing any kind of threat.

Guess Blanc didn't want to field them to prevent another 2010. Doesn't leave many midfielders, after all. Spain has so much space on their right side, too bad they don't have anyone to cross to. Didn't know about the troubles in the french camp. Thanks.

Is this the reason he omitted Nasri and the others from the team today? If so then that makes more sense. I didn't realize they had infighting this tournament.

What? lol

Didn't know much about that either, only about Nasri, but during prematch coverage the german broadcaster reported all that. Don't see another explanation, either - France looked bad against Sweden, but Blanc'd have to change the whole team then, and not do funny stuff like field Debuchy as a midfielder.

Good game imo, France did nothing wrong except that one mistake.

Such a stupid goal, it's not dead for France until 2-0, but we will need luck:p

Welp, spain will rip another euro to pieces. Can't say I'm unhappy, I love their football.

This game is awful to watch... France did wrong the one thing they could not afford to do wrong with this lineup, concede an early goal.

Spain is playing the finest art of soccer.

Why is France playing the same way as Spain? They need to play like Chelsea played vs Barca, park the bus and counter attack. You can't win the posession game vs Spain.

Only 82% pass accuracy for spain. Must be an off day for them ^^

82% with nearly 400 passes i think is too ok

Spain are playing better than they did the previous matches, but this performance is by no means the finest.

They just lack teeth up front. Fabregas is doing ok up there, but they really miss someone like Villa.

Wonder why Fabregas vs Torres then?

Wonder why Fabregas vs Torres then? Besides the 2 goals vs Ireland, he hasn't looked very sharp. I guess Del Bosque prefers the flexibility & extra creativity that Fabregas provides. I'm sure we'll see Torres come on a little later though to test the tired legs of the french defence.

Plus, the French have been playing quite a high line which hasn't been exploited too often. Torres might come on later for that purpose.
