Roy Hodgson announced England's 23-man squad on 16 May 2012, along with a five-man stand-by list. The England team is the only squad to consist entirely of players from their domestic league. On 25 May, John Ruddy was ruled out with a broken finger; Jack Butland was called up as his replacement. On 28 May, Gareth Barry was ruled out with a groin injury, being replaced by Phil Jagielka. On 31 May, Frank Lampard was ruled out with a thigh injury and was replaced by Jordan Henderson. On 3 June, Gary Cahill was ruled out with a double fracture of his jaw and Martin Kelly was called up as his replacement.

England make one change from the team that drew 1-1 with France, as Carroll gets the nod to play upfront alongside Welbeck, with the OX losing his place.

Why the ukrain team aren't aweful and their playing at home. Wouldn't be a big surprise if we lose either through being out played or bottling it

Love what hodgson has done with the squad though and I hope if we do lose he keeps his job and the support of the FA.

Every group has gone down to the wire so far. Even teams like Germany and Spain looked like they could be eliminated. I expect this group to be no different. Should be a great night. England 3-1. France 2-1.

I have a hard time seeing Ukraine get out of this, possible, but almost surely gonna be France as first, England as second in the end.

You love how he made England aa boring and uber-defensive team that plays with 8 players in the box?

I definitely think that France have had an easier run in than us, in that Sweden needed a result against us and Ukraine will do too. Whereas in France's games the results wont matter on the day in terms of qualification.

That said, it may play more to our strengths as our game revolves around counter attacking. I can definitely see Walcott running rings around tired legs in the final 20 mins.

Sure its not exactly the most attractive play style in general, but the Eng - Swe game was one of the best in the tourney so far! Certainly not boring.

England have had a lot of injuries and they had a short turnaround because of how long it took to select a new manager. Not going to blame them for playing a safer style. It is also Hodgson's style of play. A defensive style of football has been around for decades. I don't remember this many complaints when Italy and other nations continously used it. One of the main reasons it has become a problem is because Barcelona, Spain and others seem to complain about it (and everything else) on a weekly basis. All that aside, I wouldn't be suprised that England start attacking a little more now that they have a few games under their belt and the fact that Rooney is coming back.
