Just wondering, has he looked at the replays beforehand? It would explain him not missing anything. Either that or he is incredible at knowing what's going on everywhere at once :D Though I honestly think he should watch the replays if he doesn't, it is one of the bigger benefits of casting a replay, especially if the casters are not the ones controlling, so that the casters see it for the first time but the observer doesn't. In fact, it could perhaps even be good if casters cast from the observers POV so that they don't miss anything as well.

Oh, and keep up the great work <3

INCREDIBLE job, even getting better than in the previous TSL if that is even possible.

One question though if anyone knows. Was Huk's OMG because he messed something up like rallying 2 probes on another or something cause you didn't show that ( iirc) and his buildings were behind Hasu's a few seconds or was that just his BO and the OMG was completely random?

the ones i ref i've seen beforehand, so roughly 30-40% of the reps. might pre-watch all before this weekend though.

I'm glad someone made a thread for this; Hot Bid has been doing a great job! He catches many things that the casters don't even touch upon.

With Hot_Bid's amazing awareness of what's going on in the game, I bet he'd also be a sick commentator if he wanted to.

Doesn't miss anything, and shows a lot the casters dont even notice (like drones being idle in Ciara v MC),I love it. Only problem is that he's sometimes too slow or forgets to show health bars in battles, I dunno, I just like seeing them. (see Huk v HasuObs G1 when huk attacks hasu's ramp for an example). Anyways not a huge thing, great observing over all.

I was extremely impressed by the observing. I agree with the others who have suggested that the casters could benefit from casting from the observer's view, though I don't know if that would be technically possible - I often had the feeling that they were missing pretty important events that I was only aware of because of Hot_Bid's hot, hot mouse-fondling.

It was indeed a nice job! Thanks to the feverish mouse-circling we got a lot of extra cool info on the games... I almost felt at times like listening to the casters was for the noobs, while the observer's cursor was where the pro translation was available

Thank you so much for never missing a beat, some times I have to mute the stream for a few minutes, but thanks to your suggestive mouse circles, I never miss anything important.

Seriously awesome job HB, I've never once been watching the mini map and being like GO THERE GO THERE GO THERE. You're always 2 steps ahead of the action, it's great.

Adding my voice to the 'i <3 hotbid' throng!

Allow me to recall a moment from genius-qxc game 2:
-qxc starts to build his first nuke
-i notice
-it's pretty exciting
-obs noticed, he mouses over it in production
-casters mention a nuke...once it's done building
-'GEEZ GUYS IT'S ABOUT TIME' i say to myself feeling oh-so-smug
-'...but that obs' i continue (still to myself) 'he gets it'

As a side note, I've never seen an obs inject so much voice into a mouse pointer.

Kudos to you, Hot Bid, good sir. Usually when I'm watching SC2 and I happen to consciously think about the observer, it's because the observer was missing action... today I was watching and thinking about how the observer was getting all the action and following the direction of the commentating. Thumbs up!

Favorite obs moment of today? Match: BoxeR - Sen. Hot_Bid highlighting the units behind the supply depot @ the Xelnaga tower. He showed them repeatedly (without caster recognition) and you could see his cursor loving it :D Impressive stuff sir! Takes skills to keep up (and maybe surpass) the caster duo of Day9 and djWheat!

I don't normally pay attention to what's happening when I watch matches and I just listen to the commentators and rely on them to tell me what's happening while I look at the shiny effects, but Hotbid's observing is like having a 3rd caster, the loudest mute person I've ever seen.

Thanks everyone, it's fun doing it and a lot easier to do it from replays than live.

Everyone can also thank the OSL/MSL because I just try to copy what the BW obs do, they do a really great job and a lot of the little subtle things you don't really notice. For example, when a big battle is going on, it's nice to cut for 3 seconds to a stream of units reinforcing.

Damn watching the Sen vs BoxeR game on Shakuras Plateau.

Hot_Bid showing the drop destroying that hatchery at the top left, and Wheat and Day9 still talking about the middle or something else.

Long after the hatchery was sniped - which Hot_Bid saw - Wheat says "AND OH MY GOD, WE LOST IT BUT THE FOURTH BASE WAS KILLED BY A DROP!"

Seriously good observing today Hot_Bid!

Props for catching things even commentators miss sometimes. Well done

Yeah good obsing HB

Every now and then you miss a drop initiating or something, but it's not a common problem, and the casters often forget to make note of it too

Indeed great job, feels like I'm watching the OSL/MSL obs view during TSL, it's just that good.

HotBid, have you considered using the "remove HUD" function? I know over- or misusing it could result in a very lame spectator experience, but if it's used at the right time and in proper frequency it really raises the "WHOA-factor" and still maintains it's uniqueness.

You're doing a really good job though, it's quite funny when we know much much more than the casters themselves. :D

Even though I explicitley thought off how good the OBS where yeasterday, I never would have thought of making a thread like this. Shame on me. We need more love on the internet.

Appreciation well deserved, you do a great job Sir. <3

The observing in TSL really is great. The little things like pointing out supply block or banked resources or started upgrades etc. really makes you feel like you're never missing anything. Only areas to be improved upon imo would be a little more unit follow for scouting workes and maybe a tad smoother scrolling if that makes any sense ><

thanks for the great work!

Just going to chime in here, amazing observing! The TSL3 wouldn't be the same without it, probably some of the best observing/showing production tabs I've ever seen.

Yeah, Hot_Bid is doing almost TOO well with obsing. He beats the casters by a good 10-15 seconds sometimes on noticing something. Which is to say that we'll be watching a drop happen thanks to Hot_Bid and right before it's almost cleaned up the casters go "OMG DROP IN THE MAIN!". Haha, poor casters don't have a chance.

Usually when I watch StarCraft the first couple of minutes I don't watch, I only listen. I am checking my mail, refreshing my drink and so on. But when Hot_Bid is obsing I am glued to the screen from the workersplit to the gg. What will he write? To who will he give a shout out? Is it easy to read or to I have to follow the mouse courser and guess when one letter goes over to the next? Hot_Bid is making the uninteresting parts of StarCraft entertaining. Thank you Hot_Bid "The Observer".

And of course his obsing throughout the game is extraordinary.

So great, even when the commentators are missing stuff ( happens sometimes ) you were there, showing us every second of boxers brilliance. From the multi pronged drops, to the walled off xel naga, the TSL observer is a hero, great great stuff.

Thank you.

HB catches things before the commentators do. They aren't working well together, lol. I think Day[9], Wheat and co. need a monitor of his screen when they commentate. :O

Hotbid is insanely good at doing the observing.
The TSL3 observing shows other (non-GSL) competitions how it should be done (since GSL also has a dedicated observer)..
HOLY CHECK!

These people are the ones that deserve the respect. Not that the casters don't either. It's these people that don't get as much thanks.

I am not sure. The ones where he underlines letters in words are the simplest. Rich (R1CH) as some people have pointed out and Reddit (Morrow vs HasuObs Game 1), but when he is writing freehand it is hard to make out when a letter stops and the next one starts.
